In Duke Nukem 3D for Sega Saturn the city of Los Angeles has been infested with scum bag aliens. Duke has returned from a small vacation and he now want to some of that scum bag killing action. Also in Duke Nukem 3D you can also have multiplayer action, so you will be able to kill all your friend like crazy. Some of the neat features on this game is powerful weapons, trademark Duke humor, soundtrack with bands such as Megadeath, secret levels, and much more.

Review created: 08/09/09(updated 08/09/09)

Ok, so I bought this and Doom. The graphics on Duke Nukem killed the graphics on Doom. This game is really fun and is fun to play over and over! buy this game.

A good, but not great port of a classic game

The Saturn port of Duke Nukem 3d is a mixed bag. Ported by Lobotomy using their Slavedriver Engine (the same used in Powerslave and Quake for Saturn), Duke for Saturn is perhaps the most graphically impressive when compared to the PSX and N64. Duke for Saturn sports a smooth and consistent frame rate, great lighting effects, and detailed environments. The sounds and music are also good and, in my opinion, Duke for Saturn has the best controls of the three.

On the flip side, Duke for Saturn lacks a lot of the little details that change the experience somewhat. First and foremost, the maps are smaller, in some cases MUCH smaller than the PC and even the other ports. The most annoying and most persistent change, however, is the slower game play speed. Over all, it's a fun port, but the developers seemed to have made trade offs that make it hold up well to the other ports in terms of visuals but not so well in terms of game play and translating the Duke experience to the console.

  Amazing game!

This game is a classic. I'm playing it for the first time and regret having never played it when it first came out. The gameplay is spot on for an early FPS game, the humor is priceless and the music is out standing.

I bought this game specifically to use with the Netlink modem. It works great and the multiplater is a ton of fun.

Duke branches out to consoles, with less than nuclear results

Pros:
Good weapon selection,cool enemies

Cons:
graphics, controls just don't suit Saturn pad, generally not a great port

How things change eh? who here can remember when Duke Nukem 3D was first released, and caused all sorts of bother, due to it featuring strippers, swearing and extreme violence. 3D Realms have wasted so much time in bringing out the sequel, which they have apparently been working on for well over 5 years, that the Duke is now almost forgotten, gamer's memories only being jogged by the constant stream of crap third person view titles released for the PlayStation. For those looking for a history lesson, Duke Nukem and its first sequel, imaginitively titled Duke Nukem 2, were 2D platform come...
