The Duelling Handbook, 1829 by Joseph Hamilton
The definition for Duelling as a handbook. The Irish rules were what was followed in Europe and America. These rules not only were a how-to as regarding doing an opponent in with sword or pistol within propriety, but also offered opportunities for the seconds to resolve disputes.
Rules regarding the amount of insult once a 'fire' has been exchanged without a hit, is it worth a second shot? Has honor been served and may the gentlemen now leave the Field of Honor? What if the Seconds come to odds and also wish to participate (as duellists), how will this be done?
I have an original book on Duelling 'Duels and Duelling' by Lorenzo Sabine 1855, with black powder smudges on the rules pages. This book was owned by a doctor in Richmond Virginia signed 1856. They are the same rules.
