Dual Electronics XHD-6420 Car CD/ MP3 Player

I heard one on display at Pep Boys and liked the way it sounded, especially when the loudness was turned on. Also, it was the first HD radio [NOT HDready] under $100. The Aux. input is nice, too. Pep Boys in AZ says they are out of stock, so I got mine from E-bay.The controls are easy to work and figure out, although I have to read the book to fine tune, or tweak the radio.

I was looking for a new, inexpensive radio for my daily driver since my old head unit went bad. I mostly listen to AM or my iPod since local programming is not to good. Read several reviews over the internet on this unit and it seemed too good to be true, especially for the price, so I went for it.

Let me just say, this is quite a package for the money. The surprise was how good HD radio works. I even found an AM station that broadcasts music in HD. That blows away what any FM station sounds like. But when you lose AM signal, it goes to mono sound like regular AM LOL!

I already had existing external amp and speakers, so the install was 30 minutes to map the basic wires to the existing harness configuration. Worked the first time I turned it on. I don't have an opinion on the quality of the unit with the built in amplifier, but the preamp side is better than the $300+ unit I had in their before from JVC.

I've demoed this thing for a couple of friends, and they can't believe their eyes or ears either. This has to be the best bang for the buck you can get in a car radio!
