They've got it all wrong
This book is phony creationist "science" for kids. I bought it for amusement , to compare it to the one I saw at a bookstore some 20 years ago. It has been upgraded to compare the erosion of solid rock at the Grand Canyon, one mile thick, to erosion of soft ash along the slopes of Mount Ste. Helens, suggesting that this somehow suggests that the Grand Canyon was eroded as quickly. This book averages five lies or misrepresentaions per page. Junk. Small wonder our science education is the laughing stock of the world
