Synopsis As her mother battles a citizens' group that wants to ban all "anti-Christian" literature from the public library, Carla faces her own battle of torn loyalties when her boyfriend starts persecuting the homosexual owners of an antiques shop.
Sixteen-year-old Carla Wayland, living with her liberal mother in a small Arkansas town, is ecstatic that rich, popular, and handsome Andy Harris is dating her. Her feelings change, however, when a gay couple who have moved into town are harassed by Andy and his father. Caught between wanting to be popular and her feelings of tolerance, Carla is horrified when the harassment results in one of the gay men being drowned.
