If you like "black" comedy, then you'll love Drowning Mona ! Danny DeVito who plays the sheriff of this small town is a hilarious character. DeVito moves through the movie, following leads to who might know more about Mona's death and becomes one with the various families. Bette Midler plays a perfect Mona with lots of sarcastic remarks and the looks to go along with a thoroughly dispictable person. Jamie Lee Curtis is a star in this movie for her varied scenes and her "down home" image. The movie is one funny act after another with different characters, the whole cast is funny. Best scenes in the movie are DeVito driving around town in his Sheriff's -Plymouth "K" car with his left arm leaning out the window, watch for it ! The entire population of the small town all drive Yugos in various states of repair, where did the producers find this many Yugos ? I've never been a fan of funny movies but this one still makes me laugh.

Rarely do I buy movies. After watching this on cable, twice, I had to have a copy. Very creative, great writing, great performances, and you will wish it was longer. I could go on and on but, buy it - and enjoy a truly unique movie!

Saw part of it on TV, wanted to finish but had to go somewhere.
Decided to try to buy it. Did just that.

I really enjoyed the cast in this movie and it was very entertaining. Made me laugh, which is great to laugh..

I like the all star cast in this movie. Everyone was great! The characters in this movie are all wierd in their own ways! Just a neat movie.

IF YOU ARE FEELING DOWN ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL LIFE OR FINANCES..THIS IS FOR YOU. DO YOU RARELY WATCH A DVD MORE THAN ONCE AFTER PURCHASING IT?..NOT THE CASE HERE. YOU WILL WANT TO WATCH THIS ONE OFTEN...I NEVER GET TIRED OF IT, I ESPECIALLY LOVE THE KNIFE THROWING SCENE THE MOST. BETTE MIDLER FANS WILL BE PLEASANTLY ENTERTAINED AND SURPRISED. I loved drowning mona! It was super funny, and the characters and actors were great. I first saw it on late night cable a few years ago. I decided to buy it because it is a comedy unlike any other. I highly recommend it to anyone not allergic to laughing!
