...is DROP DEAD FUNNY...

This a a great semi-dark comedy send-up of teen beauty pageants...a documentary film crew is following all the girls and their families while they get ready for the pageant...the film features several beautiful young gals, such as Kirsten Dunst(as the goody-goody poor girl) and Amy Adams as the nympho cheerleader(she was the cute nurse with braces in Hanks-DiCaprio film 'Catch Me If You Can')...along with some other not-so-beautiful but funny & quirky young gals as well, like Brittany Murphy.
Ellen Barkin is a riot as the trailer park mother..and her best friend, played by Allison Janney, is a gas too.
Kirstie Alley looked great, in 1996, and is one of the main comic players as the pageant director, but the film is absolutely filled with many other talented & funny female actors...and there are plenty of very funny male performances as well, like Sam McMurray as the town's rich furniture retailer and father of a dreaded, but expected-to-win, pageant contestant...there's even a cameo by Adam West(TV's Batman).
The movie is set in a small town in the northern state of Minnesota, and so the accents, used very well by the actors, are a part of the comedy...I'm not going to spoil it for you by telling too much, if you haven't seen it before....just know that it's a very funny movie - full of laughs!
I don't know what some of you gals might think, but as far as us guys go, a movie with lots of laughs and lots of pretty gals is a winner every time!
This is a FUNNY movie...
Enjoy!
