Dreamcatcher by Stephen King (2001)

I bought this book on tape for a cousin who was hospitalized with a broken back and couldn't really sit up to watch TV. It was just exactly what he wanted, so I was very glad to find it on eBay. My only disappointment, and it wasn't the seller's fault, was that delivery took a very long time, and I would have liked to have had it for my cousin the next day after I ordered it!!

I bought Dreamcatcher because I like to listen to audiobooks on my way to and from work. Dreamcatcher is a sci-fi horror book, and I found myself taking a few minutes longer on my trip home to listen through a suspenseful moment. I find Stephen King's novels a little too long to read from a book. I would never have read the book, but I was enthralled by the characters on the tapes. The reader, Jeffrey DeMunn, has a great voice and knows how to give each character an identity separate from the others. I was transported to the snowy forest of Maine and truly fell in love with the four friends and Duddits. I think we all wish we had three or four good friends who would stand by us no matter how weird and terrifying things got. I would definitely recommend this audiobook for anyone who has the time to listen for that many hours,or as I was,is held captive by the automobile and needs an absorbing diversion.
