Draw Write Now, Book 1 by Kim Stitzer, Marie Hablitzel (1994, Paperback)

I was setting up our home school curriculum for the fall semester & Timberdoodle's catalog had raves on this item. Well, I took their word for it. My son, after 2 days of school said, "School is boring, Mom." so out I took the Draw Write Now! book 1 & workbook (just a wkbk with one page lines, the other a frame) and showed him the copy work & drawing he could do. After his first "lesson" he was so hooked, our 11 year old daughter jumped in as soon as she was done with her school & they drew for the rest of the afternoon! We use "the special" pencils (Prismacolors) so I think that makes it even more exceptional. You should see the drawings that are flowing from this bubble-people-drawing boy!!! He's making such beautiful artwork & our 11 year old daughter is excelling in her animal art skills, too! Wonderful product, now we're looking to buy the whole set!
Fantastic replacement for copy work, especially for boys who don't like to write (or girls for that matter!).
What I really love is that each lesson comes with a trivia question for the kids, the answer's later on in the book with refrences to great reading materials, too! Great asset, so glad I followed Timberdoodle's advice!
Oh, and this mad rush to complete the next lesson is still going strong, after 2 1/2 weeks! The book's going to be done too quick! (although there are a ton of lessons & ideas!) They love it & have referred it to THEIR friends! Wow, huh? You won't be dissappointed, especially you mothers/fathers who have no art-skills, this is it!

I decided to buy this book because my daughter hates to write, but loves to draw. I figured if this book could incorporate the one with the other it would be a God-send. I was well rewarded. My daughter loves this book. She can't wait for her next assignment, and now that writing is a part of art, she willingly does it.
