Movie Description Television's first and still most famous police procedural, DRAGNET was the brainchild of star Jack Webb. Webb became fascinated with the day-to-day life of a regular policeman while he was a character actor in the 1940s, and when the opportunity came to make a television show about the topic, was able to convince the LAPD for its assistance. What resulted was a program that stressed the little things that went into a police officer's investigations and routines, rather than flashy or glamorous moments of violence or confrontation. With near-documentary realism, Joe Friday (Webb) and his partner Frank Smith (Ben Alexander) probed murders, robberies, and vice crimes, many of which were based on actual LAPD case files. This collection features eight episodes: "The Big Frame," "The Big False Move," "The Big Producer," "The Big Crime," "The Big Pair," "The Big Bar," "The Big Bird," and "The Big Oscar."
