The reason for the book is simple... the recent dog food scare! This book is very informative and very helpful for those who seriously want to avoid the hazards with commercial dog/cat food. Recipes are fairly simple. Plenty of other helpful hints with regards to maintaining animal's health. It is definitely worth the read!

if you run into a problem with your pet the answer is sure to be here. i just got it yesterday and already i am using tips from this wonderful book .i was looking for recipes for dog food for my pekingese puppies as one has allergies. and the wealth of information i found in this book surprised me. this is a must have especially for new pet owners and a very good guide for long time pet owners. this book guides through various illnesses and what to do for them and talks about when to take you pet to the vet immediately. many tips to prevent your pet from becoming sick. it just a really great book. and i am sure to find many more useful tips as i get time to read it more. i have only skipped through it just to check it out.

This is the one must have book on basic care and holistic health care of dogs and cats. If you have found it and are interested in the subject, buy it. If you are looking at it you are probably interested in better health for your dog or cat, and less chemicals added to their systems. You may not want to do what is suggested or may not even agree with what is written, but alternatives to conventional feeding/medicine/treatments are given and if you want that you will love this book. Highly recommended.

I decided to buy this book in a search for information on cooking home made pet food. The book is full of information on the health and care of dogs and cats. It has very good veterinarian approved recipes. The book also has recipes for pets with health care concerns. Great book!

Great book and reference for those wanting a more natural way to feed and care for their pets. Very scientific and well-researched. The recipes are carefully planned so that pets get all the nutrients available in the processed foods, but with healthier whole food ingredients. Highly recommended!

I am rating this poor because this is the third book I have bidded on and tried to get this book sent to me and I have gotten screwed on every one that I tried to get, so I am out of money three times that I bid and won and paid for them but never got but have filed two complaints and now it looks like three. I have an old book like this and it was excellent reading, I loved it and it had alot of good and informative information that I followed and got excellent results and wanted to get this book as I recently got a new puppy and wanted to read the newer edition and see if it had more updated info for me to follow with my new puppy as I am all natural with all my animals and I wish I could say and rate this book as good as last edition which I probably would have if I ever got it but I'm sure it is an excellent book. So it looks like I'll have to go to book store and purchase it there and then maybe get back to you with a good review. A very upset and disappointed e-bay shopper!!!!!

I'm a little intimidated about making these recipes but have heard such good results that others have had for their dogs that I must get my act together and gather all the ingredients to make homemade food. I'm hoping that I can eliminate the itches, licking and biting that has made my dog (and me) so uncomfortable this past summer.

I love the content and presentation style. This book is a must have for serious dog and cat owners. I bought the book for help in feeding my Chows a more healthy diet. One of my girls has some auto-immune issues and I'm hoping to improve her condition with a more wholesome diet.

A friend’s dog was very sick with severe skin rashes. Repeated visits to veterinarians, assorted treatments, ointments and prescribed diets over a 3-year period did not work. Once she started to her dog on the prescribed treatments and diets as described in Dr. Pitcairn’s book, the dog shower immediate signs of improvement. Within a few months the dog was completely healed and acted like a puppy again. This book is a must have for any pet owner.
