Excellent, but only because it's Nine Inch Nails...

I bought this, like I do everything else NIN, because I'm a Collector - and wouldn't be complete w/o it.
As for the average shopper - the highs & lows of this album are plain as day. The CD (disc 1) was remastered (though I can't really tell the difference) & the bonus CD (disc 2) contains 2 Non-LP tracks "Burn" - Natural Born Killers OST & "Dead Souls" - The Crow OST. The rest of the tracks on Disc 2 can be found on the other remix Halo releases pertaining to the Downward Spiral (March of the Pigs, Closer / Closer to God, Further Down the Spiral).
SO, basically, if you're just getting in to Nine Inch Nails, or you're not a Serious Collector, & only have the regular LPs -- you'll want this (more than not) due to the 5.1 sound mix (remastered or not -- that makes it worth it) & for the couple extra Non-LP tracks mentioned before - previously only available on the Official Soundtrack (OST) from that movie (or the promo from the movie).
Burn isn't a huge fav. of mine -- Dead Souls is freaking awesome -- if I were you, I'd get it... if you were me, you'd already have it! :-) So, enjoy!

) This " Deluxe Edition " of NIN's Downward Spiral comes in a superb digiak with plastic slipcase. Inside you will find not one but two hybrid SACDs ! The original album is also available in multichannel mix! The multichannel mix is aggressive and extremely POWERFUL ! Will blow U away ! The second SACD (stereo) features demos,b-sides, remixes. This item is well worth every penny! Enjoy!

) The SACD plays perfectly in every CD player that I own (even the ones that rejected the DualDisc version of TDS), and the surround sound mix sounds amazing. The disc was remastered by TR, so there are no dramatically changed elements (in fact, the only difference in the Stereo mix is that the mix is 1dB louder than the original mastering), but even the small differences that exist in this release make it like hearing the album for the first time all over again. The bonus disc contains a few hard-to-find remixes and b-sides (such as Burn) collected together in an album-length compilation.
All in all, this is a great release and should be in every NIN fan's collection. I would also recommend this version to first time buyers of The Downward Spiral over the original version, simply because the mix sounds fuller and louder while still retaining every bit of its original harshness and power.
