This is a relaxed set of 11 John Hartford originals, sung with his customary friendly ease as a small acoustic ensemble accompanies him. On this project, he uses four fiddles (he's playing one) which add a rough-hewn bit of filigree to the arrangements. Hartford's banjo playing locks in nicely with the rhythm section, which underscore the songs with graceful propulsion.
Time will tell if any of these songs become the country standards they deserve to be. In the meantime one can only delight in such songs as "Bring Your Clothes Back Home," "Here I Am in Love Again" and "Right in the Middle of Falling For You" (the latter of which uses the fiddles for full swoon effect).
