Synopsis Vashti believes that she cannot draw, but her art teacher's encouragement leads her to change her mind.
Vashti is a girl who hates art class because, as she says, "I just can't draw!" Her teacher encourages Vashti to make a mark, any kind of mark, on a piece of paper. Frustrated, Vashti makes a tiny little black dot on a piece of white paper and it is that slight pen stroke, and some real encouragement from her teacher, that helps Vashti develop the confidence to try all sorts of art projects. Color illustrations accompany the text.
