The Dorling Kindersley Encyclopedia of Fishing (1994, Hardcover)

The book is EXCELLENT! As with most DK books, the book is perfect for a beginner to learn as much as anyone could want to know, or the fishing expert who just wants to know more details or refresh. It is an excellent resource book for most fish as well. The book can be read cover to cover or can be searched for pertinent information or what ever you might need. I bought it for my two sons who are beginners but their instructor picked it up and was impressed. He also spent several hours perusing it and was surprised to learn many details about many of the fish. Such as diet, habitat and the size some can grow to. So if you are just looking to catch a few small fish or are interested in big sea fishing, this book covers it all!

This book had some good information in it but I believe it was too short to be considered an encyclopedia. I think "The Fishing Encyclopedia" by Ken Schultz is much better and with 2000 pages it is by far the most detailed book on fishing.

This book pack a surprising amount of information in it. The sections on the different types of fish with their maxium size and the habitat that they frequent is very useful. Also covered are explanations on all different types of fishing equipment and what is the best to use when fishing a certain fish and for various condition. So this book is great for someone new to fishing but is also has some great things for the experienced fisherman.I recomend this book because the format and language used is very easy to follow and understand even for the most novice fisherman ,the illustration are detailed ,and its also a great looking book to just have on your coffe table.
