After testing each cosmetic, she shares her results and lists both the products that live up to their promises and the products that are likely to be nothing more than expensive disappointments to consumers. Top Reviews Review created: 01/09/06 by: 8 of 8 people found this review helpful. When it comes to cosmetics, there are counters filled in just about every store one goes into. This book gives you reasons why some cosmetic brands are better than others, why some are useless,(writer feels any face cream beyond your basic is just a waste of money),why some cosmetics are a total waste of money. Ms Paula Begoun the writer, has a no bones about it attitude about all cosmetics. You can like her or dislike her but she knows all there is know about cosmetics. This book has been updated just about every year and just gets more pages added to it as more cosmetics come up. There is a lipstick you want to know about it, or the brand if its safe or not, then you need to dig deep into this book. For the money, its well worth it and you will learn all you will ever want to know about the field of cosmetics, Enjoy! Report this review Reviews Review created: 12/07/07 by: This book contains all the information you need to make an intelligent and informed decision regarding the cosmetic products that you buy. The author goes into incredible detail about the ingredients in various products, what does and doesn't work and why, when it's worth spending a lot of money for high-end brands versus buying from the drugstore (virtually never!), etc. She covers every brand and name you can think of. There is a later version, but this one contained all the products that I needed to know about. If you have a choice, I recommend buying the latest version you can afford, because there are always new products and ingredients coming out. She tells you which ones are good for your type of skin, whether they contain enough or the right combinations of ingredients to be effective, and much, much more. Definitely worth having in your library. Will save you money if your follow her advice. Review ID: 10000000004782501 Was this review helpful? I think Makeupalley is the best sort to look at. Review ID: 10000000004279374 Was this review helpful?
