Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me by Paula Begoun (2003, Paperback)

This book is perfect for those of you who like/love makeup/skin care products but are completely overwhelmed by the amount of sellers.. which is better this or that? This book will tell you pretty much everything you need to know. I love that it covers everything from high end brands (MAC/Smashbox/Lancome) to drugstore brands (Maybelline/Revlon/CoverGirl). If you have any questions about makeup or skin care this is the book for you.

This book contains all the information you need to make an intelligent and informed decision regarding the cosmetic products that you buy. The author goes into incredible detail about the ingredients in various products, what does and doesn't work and why, when it's worth spending a lot of money for high-end brands versus buying from the drugstore (virtually never!), etc. She covers every brand and name you can think of. There is a later version, but this one contained all the products that I needed to know about. If you have a choice, I recommend buying the latest version you can afford, because there are always new products and ingredients coming out. She tells you which ones are good for your type of skin, whether they contain enough or the right combinations of ingredients to be effective, and much, much more. Definitely worth having in your library. Will save you money if your follow her advice.

It's a fun book to own, get the most recent edition you can afford, as it will have more up to date products.

Overall it's worth what I paid for it, found out I can use baby wipes to clean off make up in a hurry, that alone was a "find" IMO

You can get lost in this book on a cold winters day...

This book does not impress me much. I do not find it helpful in helping me make decision on what I should or should not buy. I think Makeupalley is the best sort to look at.
