Don't Be Cruel by Bobby (R&B) Brown (CD, Oct-1990, MCA Records USA)

This album is the one thing Bobby Brown did right! I have thoroughly enjoyed this CD. I had the LP and wore it out and needed another. I was delighted to find the CD on eBay.

Great CD - no scratches. Didnt take long to receive at all. Great bargain for the money. Definitely worth it.

I actually enjoyed Bobby Brown's music before he "changed". There is a song entitled "I Love My Girl" that no one really listened to, except me of course. I had the song on an old cassette tape. Well, cassettes are almost obsolete. I tried to find the cd with this song title in every music store I visited. No one had this cd title. I decided to put it in on the search on Ebay and voila!! That song has a nice, smooth tempo and the lyrics are neat as well. After receiving the cd, I listened to the entire list of songs and remembered that this cd was hot at one time. I enjoy all of the songs on that cd and I am glad someone had it to sell.

I had forgotten how good this CD was. The dance music makes you move but you don't get bored with the slow songs. Nice classic R&B. This is another replacement from Katrina.

For whatever reason one morning I saw myself in balloon pants and a bat-wing sleeved top, with my ultra permed long auburn hair spiked on either side of my face with my large-bushy eyebrows, dancing to MC Hammer & Bobby Brown...and hey after all.."That's my Perogative." I just had to have it all back, so I jumped on eBay and bid on one of each, Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'um - "You Can't Touch This," and the Bobby Brown we knew & loved before got messed up from too much success too quickly. Sad, they both had a difficult time w/ their success, but we still love them for getting us off our butts and moving it! Thanks eBay!

The CD showed up in a timely manner and was in excellent shape. There were no scratches or cracks. Very nice seller! Highly recommend!

it was broken in 2 pieces when i recieved it i didnt pay that much for it so i didnt purchase the quarantee but still it was broken

I love old(er) Bobby Brown & I don't know anyone who doesn't enjoy at least one of the songs on this album. It starts off with a bang, going right into "Don't Be Cruel" and followed up with hit after hit. The entire album is wonderful-for all of us who grew up on his music, or listened & jammed to it as a teenager, it's quite simply a classic that should be tucked away in every collection. If you like even one Bobby Brown song, you'll absolutely adore this CD!! From "Don't Be Cruel", to "My Prerogative", "Roni", "Rock Witcha", "I'll Be Good To You" and my personal favorite, "Every Little Step".....TONS of hits!
"Don't Be Cruel" is like others in that time span-and yet so very different! His music forces you to not only smile, but have the overwhelming urge to get up & dance. I personally loved the music from that time-the beats were impelling, people of all ages could understand (and therefore sing) each & every word, and it made sense! Music like that is hard to find these days. Now we hear not only ample profanity, but disgusting sexual innuendos, senseless lyrics (if you can understand them at all), and the topics are about 2 things only-money and sex. Not a great bonding experience, listening to the radio with the kids & hearing words & phrases so harsh it burns the ears. That's about the time they request Bobby Brown-and I oblige, gladly!
I bought this CD because the entire family sings his songs when we get together & my old CD had been terribly scratched. Even the younger ones, who weren't fortunate enough to experience Bobby Brown when he first exploded on the scene solo love his music and sing along, like they've known it forever. We all enjoy the 70's, 80's & 90's R & B/pop culture-this album is a "must have" for serious collectors of that era!
I would highly recommend "Don't Be Cruel" to anyone who wants to reminisce about 'the good old days' of pop and smile with warm memories, from ear to ear, as well as listen to music that makes sense.

THis Cd was of excellent quality, and excellent price. I've recently had all of my cd's stolen from my car(about 200), and I've been slowly replacing them from ebay. This Cd, like the many others that I have purchased was in excellent condition, and the price couldn't be beat. I had priced this cd at other stores, and with shipping, it was still cheaper to get it from ebay. Kudos!!!

I remember when I bought the CD many years ago. To me, this did to Bobby Brown what Control did to Janet Jackson. And like the Control CD, I beat "Don't Be Cruel" to death with it's many killer tracks; from the title track, to Roni, to My Prerogative, and everything in between. Obviously, I bought it again to replace the now damaged original. But it's one of those high profile albums that not only brought the former Mr. Whitney Houston to the spotlight, it also helped define the New Jack R&B era. If like me, you are a huge fan of such artists like Michael Cooper, Troop, The System and Tony Toni Tone, this is definitely an album to add to your collection. My only gripe now is what it was then: The Cruel Outro is just so out of place...
