Practicing my strokes and trying to make the perfect roses, I wanted some way to display my work. I was delighted when I could actually paint flowers that looked like flowers and wanted to share them with family and friends. I didn't think they'd want to put them on the refrigerator, but they aren't quite frame quality. This book is full of practical ways to use the art.
There are so many designs to use and I can paint gift boxes or baskets, flower pots, various containers, and I have painted some of the designs on card stock to make my own, one of a kind, greeting cards. For someone with close to NO artistic ability, this is a really good thing.
A couple of the instructions were a bit confusing, but with the pictures it was fairly easy to figure it out. I'm glad I bought the book and hope to soon have enough time to use it some more and learn to make more designs. It was definitely worth the price.
As a member of a group that paint's eBay pretty, I thought it was high time I learned to paint a rose, too! I found Donna Dewberry's One Stroke Painting Course easy to understand and follow. I have never painted anything in my life, but using the Dewberry techniques, my very first effort was quite reasonable! I did think my flower looked more like a camellia than a rose, but I was quite pleased. I am so encouraged, I have bought a supply of paint and brushes, and I'm looking forward to working with this guide in earnest.
I am very excited about learning this technique for painting flowers, and did find several short classes at Joanne's Store in Temecula teaching this method. I look forward to the classes, painting flowers, and will continue to study Donna Dewberry's book.
Thank you for sending it. The other book, written by the same author, has not come, and I believe that I remember your writing that I would receive it when available. I believe that I paid for the books on line when ordering them.
This book is from 1999. It has very good informational pages and lots of pictures. Donna has refined her teachings since this publication. I would recommend this book for One Stroke painters who are starting to feel comfortable with the process and are familiar with Donna's other teachings. This book may be a little confusing for the beginner who has not picked up a brush and is just starting to learn.
Never bought this book, Bid but never won this item. I don't know where you received this purchase. I have never purchased this book. It is probably good because I love all her books. Never received this one. Tricia
