Don is one of the top 4-5 historical artist around. This book shows Don at his best. His insights to what is happening in the scene as well as his thoughts and motivation adds a lot of character to the book. One interesting thing about Don's paintings, is he will use a lot of the same models and if you look real close you can see the same person portrayed as a rebel cannoneer or a union soldier on the march. All in all an excellant book.

This book is a great disappointment compared to the authors previous work. I suppose this is to be expected as Troiani is getting older, slowing down and entering his golden years. I returned this book and suggest that others pass it up as it is hardly worth the paper it is printed on. However it does make a fine paperweight.
