The voices ,acting and sublime music of W.A.M. deserved a much better staging than is provided in this cinematic tour de self indulgence. The interpretatation is in complete conflict with the spirit of Da Ponte's and Motzart's vision of a "tragi-comedic" rogue, ignoble but not hateable, "nobleman" who among other failings attempts to seduce an innocent peasant girl (Zerlina) and in the end gets his, as morallity triumphs over vice.
This production is too staged, too dark and the sound track suffers from the needless manipulation of the staging.
