Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King (1992, Hardcover, Illustrated)

I loved the book - really loved the movie (kathy bates rocks though). The book, other than being dictated in delores' point of view was very good. Took me a moment to realize what was going on when the book was pretty much talking to itself. The i realized in the middle of chapter one she was speaking in the interview to the policeman about the murder. Very good though. I would read it again.

I bought this book because I liked the movie and thought the book could add to my understanding and enjoyment of the movie. I didn't make it through the first Chapter. The way it's written, Dolores is talking to and responding to questions by people who's words we aren't given. It's just Dolores talking with the reader left to assume what's being said by others. I will probably try again in the future, but for now I chose to go to another book to read. Hopefully it gets better in future Chapters.

Stephen King is 2nd on my list of all time greatest authors ( First is Dean Koontz ), I just wish he could write a book a week, Then I wouldnt have to keep waiting for the next one to come out. Im not going to go into details about the book as if you are like me, I prefer to not know anything untill I start reading about it in the book, I have read most of his books so far and I love them all.
So as you can probably guess from what I wrote above, I highly Recomend this book.
This book like many other King novels has been turned into a film.

This novel is a captivating tale of humanity's willingness to preserve it's own, to protect it's innocent and to seek justice no matter how or the likely outcome.

This is an excellent book. Stephen King has a way with making the small underdogs raise up and be heroes!!!! This is a great story you won't want to put it down!!!!

This is a great deal. I get my daughter in law Stephen King books alot. This book in the stores were $23.50 and I spent a little over $4.00. The best part is it comes right to my front door.This hard back book was in mint condition.

The beauty of any Stephen King work is that it requires one to actually use his thought processes. You can't just sit and shove popcorn in your head while the story is handed to you, as with a movie. That holds true with "Dolores Claiborne". You get intellectually and emotionally involved with the title character, almost from the very beginning. A worthwhile read for anyone who finds the written word stimulating.
