DOLLY DEAREST is definitely a guilty pleasure. A family moves to Mexico to operate a doll factory; unfortunately, one of the dolls is possessed. When the evil doll is up to no good, her face contorts into the spitting image of Chucky's; otherwise, the doll is very pretty. The film is not as campy, gory, or crude as the Chucky series; the family has to figure out what's going on as opposed to simply dodging slashers; and there are no drunken teenagers having sex. In other words, your whole family can watch this horror movie together. The mother is played by Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar from Star Trek: The Next Generation). DOLLY DEAREST is not Academy Award material, but it held my interest.

I would say its an average movie but 3 out of 5 is a little much.
The acting is pretty good. The storyline isn't bad either. The effects are also creepy...but something holds everything back...in this slow moving horror. A man and his family move to start a new life and a new career. They buy a doll factory and re-manufacture a doll that was discontinued. The factory is somewhere near a burial ground and you guessed it...the dolls come to life...and they ain't pretty.

Great retro horror, from a time when crazy ideas meant more that buckets of gore. Totally unashamed to rip of as many horror films as it can, The Omen, Childs Play, Amityville II, but i think it was a good move, if you cant beat them, steal from them! Im under no illusions, this is a bad film per se', but a very lively, well paced horror. The effects were mediocre even for back then, but just ignore that if you can and you will enjoy it more. We all played pac-man but not for the graphics! If you enjoy films like Puppet Master, Childs Play, Demonic Toys and Pumpkinhead, then your sure to love this, add it to your collection, its a classic! ..kinda...

A great movie to add to anyones classic horror film collection. I purched it because I remember watching it years back and found some of the scenes disturbing.
