...the first official The Roots release in 1995 - the first hip-hop band to emerge into somewhat mainstream status. This CD is filled with live jazzy sounds to hip-hop beats and rhythms, with dope lyrics from a veteran freestyle emcee.

The hottest tracks on the CD are "Distortion To Static," "Silent Treatment," "Proceed," and "Essaywhyman?!!?" But the entire album was ahead of its time.

Honestly, I believe The Roots are at their best on this CD because the hunger inside was stronger than ever, and they were extremely close to the streets who loved them most.
