Album Notes
Personnel includes: Jim Dickinson, Dr. John, Charlie Freeman.
Though Jim Dickinson would eventually become a legendary producer, his first solo album, DIXIE FRIED, was made when he was still mostly a session pianist. A cult classic, the 1972 release features the work of the Dixie Flyers, the musicians Dickinson had been working with on his sessions for Atlantic, and is full of the quirky, swampy vibes that helped make Dickinson a successful producer. It's a left-field amalgam of country, blues, soul, and rock that finds him mostly interpreting other people's material, including that of folk/country singer/songwriters Paul Siebel ("Louise") and Bob Frank ("Wild Bill Jones"), and giving everything he touches a greasy, groovy, Memphis feel that functions like an indelible sonic fingerprint.

Editorial Reviews
Included in Mojo's The 67 Lost Albums You Must Own! - Part blues, part country, DIXIE FRIED presents and unapologetic white-boy vision of the south.
