The Dish (DVD, 2001)

An excellent little film. All around good fun. This is a great bookend film for my NASA collection. HBO's From the Earth to the Moon series never mentions this story. The Right Stuff and Apollo Thirteen are also great films about this era. I would highly recommend all of the above to anyone interested in wanting to know more about the human endeavour that was manned space flight.

My husband I have been looking for the movie for some time and buying it new was mot an option. Love the price, the fast delivery and that the dvd was in great shape, not one scratch! The box was old, but that was the only thing wrong! Everything else was perfect!

The film has to be one to the top 10 sleepers out there. If you're like me, you're expecting a ho-hum movie about a week in time long ago.

However, with a bit of careful observation to the lines, you'll find yourself roaring with laughter at the Aussie humor, cheering them on when they need, and swelling with pride at their accomplishment. I know I did.

The film also opens a small window into the most dramatic moment in the 20th century, a moment when mankind put aside his differences and, together, stood side by side to share in that special few minutes when man landed and walked on the moon.

A time capsule to be sure, but "The Dish" is also a heartwarming outing that shows just how much man can do when everyone thinks he's "stuffed."

This is a great movie! We enjoyed the suspense and the human element storylines. This is a definite watch. I particularly enjoyed the part where the whole world stopped for a moment to watch the miracle of our man on the moon.

DVD was a stated. Brand new and just what I wanted. I am very glad I was able to find this DVD. Arrived in excellent shape. Thanks.

You will not be disappointed with this selection. It's a shame this movie never made it to main stream theaters. Wonderful acting, crazy-good soundtrack and just a great slice of a more inocent time.

I love the mix in this movie of human character foibles and humans and animals going about on Earth in the midst of the historical, world unifying and profound scientific event of landing humans on the moon and getting them home with millions of people able to see it on tv around the world. It revealed facts about that event I wasn't aware of even though I was 15 when it happened. I also loved the actors chosen. There was nothing I didn't like about this movie.

I thought it was very well done. The cast played well off each other and it was very believable. Having grown up in that era, I could almost feel that I was back in time to the 60's. Sam Neil was excellant as well as the rest of the cast. Great sound track as well. Two big thumbs up!

I bought this as a gift to put in my husband's Christmas stocking; so, we have not viewed it yet. We heard about the movie when we were in Australia, and we rented it once we returned and loved it. It's very humorous, and a true story. I would highly recommend it to everyone. I just wanted to make sure we had our own copy.
