The return of addictive strategy gameplay, dood!

It's hard not to love Disgaea 2 if you love games in the style of Final Fantasy Tactics- or basically any other game with "Tactics" in the title. Or if you love the original Disgaea, for that matter.

Rather than play as a Demon as you did in the original game, you take the role of Adell, the only remaining human in a world transformed by the Demon Overlord Zenon. Intent on defeating the Overlord and restoring his family's humanity, conscience and memories, Adell tries to summon Zenon, only to wind up with his daughter Rozalin instead. Promising to return her to her father unharmed, Adell sets out to find Zenon- not as easy as it sounds...

(If you're wondering about the cast of the original Disgaea, no worries. You'll see them again!)

The game is funny and fun. The story and characters are engaging, and the voice acting is appropriately light in tone- yes, it's a lighthearted Demon World! The Prinnies- demonic penguins who end every sentence in "dood" and explode when thrown!- are as much fun to have around as ever. And the new cast members have every bit as much personality, humor, and depth as the returning favorites.

The gameplay is pretty much as deep as you want to make it, too- there is literally an optional dungeon for every item you ever find or buy! As with other strategy-RPGs your characters gain experience levels as they fight, but unlike most games the upper level limit is 9,999. If that sounds like more work than fun, you can pretty much play through the regular game without worrying about any of this- it's as much or as little challenge as you want. Nice touch!

This is a great game- it's funny, it's involving, and if you explore all the multiple endings and optional areas you'll definitely get your money's worth.

If you likes the original Disgaea, then you'll love this one. A lot of things are the same as the first, except the story of course. If you like a Final Fantasy Tactics feel of battling, then this is the game for you!

In the peaceful world of Veldime, humans rarely encountered monsters. That was until Overlord Zenon cursed the land and all who reside within. With the curse in place, the humans became monsters and ravaged the world. It is up to Adell, the last remaining human, to oppose Overlord Zenon's tyranny and restore peace and harmony to Veldime. In Disgaea 2, players will take on the role of a young fighter named Adell and travel the netherworld to defeat the evil overlord Zenon. Battles will take place on a 3D grid based field. During combat, players will take turns between the enemy to move and attack. Key Features Geo panel based strategic battle system Lift & throw with stack attacks Dark assembly/court system where the sinners are praised All-new animated sequence with vastly improved 3D environment Over 100 hours of sleepless game play

Lose track of time and enjoy doing it...

I have to admit I am a Disgaea: Hour of Darkness junkie, even though I’ve beaten the first game to a pulp I was still playing it and thoroughly enjoying it three years later. Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories works along the same game principals of the original game, turn based battles and LOTS of configuring and specializing makes this game feel more like two separate games than one. I love the convoluted and extensive Item World maps (think dungeons in any other RPG) I love the fact that you can unlock secret levels and characters. I’ve heard that people complain about how old fashioned the animation is, I like just as it is, sometimes its nice to play a game you can recognize and not have to worry about being irritated by the distracting upgrades. That was the good, now for the not so great, the camera control in Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories is clunky and at times cumbersome. The battles can get repetitive and I find that the colors in the Item World can be a bit jarring but all in all I loved the original I love the sequel and I am very happy that Nippon Ichi has put out another game I can and do get lost in…

One again a NIS America Masterpiece
Review created: 04/08/07

With the past few games made by NIS America, gamers have been playing away on Disgaea, Phantom Brave, and Makai Kingdom. with this game it keeps the most important element of all the games. Leveling your characters to level 9999.

Playing the game just for the story is not playing the game to its fullest. The gamer may find themself losing track of time playing this game. It can become very addicting, just like its predessors. Gamers will spend well over 100 hours in order to uncover absolutely everything.

This game is a must have for all those gamers who are into tactics and stradegy.

  Disgaea!
Review created: 08/04/09

An excellent game, especially if you enjoyed the first one. Very humorous, and involved. A very absorbing role playing game. You can get wrapped up in the storyline! So fun and exciting, many twists and turns as well as unexpected surprises! Very eccentric and different, a must for any Nippon Ichi fans!

  Complete improvement on the first.
Review created: 03/30/09

Disgaea 2 takes everything that made the first such a sleeper hit and makes it far better. There is not only much more to do including a harder dark world version of every regular story level, but the character models are more detailed, the moves have all been changed or had more explosions added to them, and the new human and monster classes are great. The addition of felonies your character can earn to make them better plus an item world that actually has variety added in such as random pirate attacks and much more makes this game mindblowingly addictive. Be warned this game is a level grinder which means you spend your time leveling everything up, your characters (up to 9999), your ability to use weapons, the abilities you can use with those weapons, the weapons themselves and the attachments called innocents that are on the weapons. This is for lovers of in depth strategy rpgs only. The story is probably the only part that is lacking (in my opinion) in comparison to the first. The fact that you can reincarnate as a prinny aka an explosive penguin, more than makes up for it though(dood?).

Great game for fans of Disgaea 1
Review created: 01/09/09

I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas and he likes it a lot. He's already gotten many hours of gameplay out of the game, and even then there are many more things he can work on in the game. As in the original Disgaea, New Game+ gives the player a wide amount of missions and tasks to accomplish with the Item World, the Dark Assembly, and so forth. In terms of storyline, players who liked Disgaea 1 may be disappointed about the spotlight on the new characters, but the old characters do make a comeback. As always, Disgaea is a vast SRPG series with many things to do, and Disgaea 2 is no exception.

  Wonderful!
Review created: 12/21/08

I love this game. Its the characters and gameplay that hooked me and made me want a copy of this game. I had to wait from July or August 2005 until November 21st of this year to get a copy. No, I didn't buy a copy from here. I had 15.28 in ebgames cards that my brother gave to me for doing something for him.

In July or Aug 2005, I played this game up to where Flonne comes in and was hooked. In 2006 (apr 1) I settled with Tales of Destiny -good thing on my part since its now $50+ here on ebay- 2007 (apr 1, my birthday)I had to settle with La Pucelle. And in 2007 (Dec. 26th) I decided to settle with Disgaea 2 since I wanted to get more than one game -buy 2 get 1 free- I barely had enough for D2 and Yggdra Union + Tales of Phantasia...

  Tactic Games At Its Best
Review created: 06/02/08

Disgaea 2 is similar to its prequel, Disgaea.
The game plays almost exactly the same and there are a few recycled characters, music, gameplay, and game-concept, but the little changes that were made to the combat system improve the game by speeding it up a bit.
If you are not familiar with the Disgaea series, it's still okay to buy this game as it has a stand-alone story line, with only a few character appearances from the first game. If you like strategy/tactic games, I highly recommend this title. There are hours and hours of gameplay you can attain with this game, reaching levels of over thousands to be able to challenge the extra bosses at the end, although you can beat the game's regular mode at level 70.

DISGAEA 2 IS A GREAT SRPG
Review created: 03/03/08

Great game, highly addictive. Even when you finish the story you still want to play it, its that fun. Plus there are so many extras to keep you busy for days. If your not a fan of SRPGs then you will be after this game. I only wish the sprites they use for the characters were a little more detailed but its still very awsome.

Disgaea 2 sets a new plateau for strategy RPGs!
Review created: 01/03/08
by:

Strategy RPGs are hard to come by but it always nice when they do. Disgaea 2 is a unique game with so customizations you do you can literally spend a year playing it. With fully customizable gear and created characters it can quickly become very time consuming. The story is the only part of the game that lacks depth. If your looking for a fun rpg that will keep you occupied for a very long time this is your game.

Some times saying a few words is more than enough when reviewing an excellent game.
In short if you love turn base tragedy games. This is a most get, not a rental game but an own and keep in you collection, it has so many side quest and challenges and levels, that it will probably take you a year to fully explore the entire game.
Good luck getting to level 10,000.
