Disc One: All the Greatest Hits 1991-2001 by Barenaked Ladies (CD, Nov-2001, Reprise)

Barnaked Ladies "all their greatest hits" is a great collection of the BNL hits from 1991-2001.

This disc contains all of the hits including "If I had 1,000,000 dollars, lovers in a dangerous time, Brian Wilson, and so on."

This is a great little collection and the disk package is great.

Standard BNL; not just the 'pop stuff' that they are known for on the radio. Plus, there's info on the background to the songs.

I've been a fan of the Ladies ever since the original release of "Gordon". Their quirky wit and sense of humor have always been enjoyable, and the evolution of their musical style has been just as entertaining as the tunes themselves.

Nearly all of their best songs are here, from "If I Had $1000000" (the first song of theirs that I ever heard), to the hammering "The Old Apartment", to the daydreamy "Pinch Me". In the interest of keeping this review reasonably brief, I'll refrain from commenting on each of the tracks; suffice it to say I love them all! Unfortunately, one of my personal favorites, the heartwrenching ballad "Break Your Heart", is absent from this disc. Anyone who enjoys a good ballad must hear that song (which is, by the way, on their "Born on a Pirate Ship" album, which I highly recommend as well).

While this collection doesn't match up perfectly with my idea of their greatest hits (but then, does any artist's "best of" list ever jibe completely with yours?), it is an essential part of my Barenaked Ladies library. Not only does it contain two new songs -- the jaunty "It's Only Me" and the melancholy but engaging "Thanks That Was Fun" -- but also a pair of hard-to-find tracks: a cover of the Bruce Cockburn tune "Lovers In A Dangerous Time", and "Get In Line", another favorite of mine which is lifted from the "King of the Hill" soundtrack.

Although I could recommend any of Barenaked Ladies' albums, if you buy only one, make this it. You might be surprised at how many great songs are on this disc! Definitely worth the money!

I am a casual fan, so this review is from that perspective. I love this
CD as it has all of the songs I was looking for. It may or may not be what a diehard fan is looking for.

The CD skips. I have tried it on three different players. My car's CD player never skips until I put in this CD. I have tried cleaning the CD and everything. I still gave positive feedback because i am nice.

I absolutely love this CD, I am a big fan and I feel they put tons of great songs on this, especially some good older songs. It is upbeat and always puts me in a good mood to listen to it!

Speed, speed, speed! I got my cd in no time. It was great. Plus, the cd was in excellent condition. Very satisfied with this transaction. Awesome work!

So glad to have been able to replace my lost copy of this CD for such a reasonable price! This still remains my favorite barenaked kadies disc of all time! A must have!

Buy this disc--You will go, wow! I did not realize BNL did all those great songs! " One Week" is just the tip of the Iceberg. This disc is loaded. A MUST for True Music Collectors. You'll be throwing Macoroni at the speakers( BNL Live show ritual--now you know---Knowing is half the battle)!!!!
