Busta Rhymes is hip-hop's wildest, most energetic MC. As a lyricist, he is not afraid to experiment, and his creativity is such that he comes across not just as a rapper, but as a performer. His second solo album WHEN DISASTER STRIKES adds to a long resume, which includes his work with Leaders Of The New School, cameos on some of hip hop's hottest remixes (Craig Mack's "Flava In Ya Ear" and A Tribe Called Quest's "Scenario"), and even movie credits for HIGHER LEARNING.
The first single, "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See" is Busta at his best, with production suited for the dance floor. Other tracks show Busta's versatility; "Dangerous" is an off-beat rhyme, which incorporates a sample from an old commercial ("This is serious/we can make you delirious"), and "One" links Busta with Erykah Badu for a smooth, jazzy feel. Throughout the years, Busta has kept up with the times, and even WHEN DISASTER STRIKES, Busta Rhymes will still be standing.

Editorial Reviews
...Rhymes' rat-a-tat rasp remains hip-hop's most original voice; still, despite help from Puffy Combs and Erykah Badu, this comes off more like a free-associative collision of skits and verbal pyrotechnics than a coherent album. - Rating: B
Entertainment Weekly (09/26/1997)

7 (out of 10) - ...the global doom-predicting WHEN DISASTER STRIKES is a less than instant but eminently well-formed follow-up to his debut album...
NME (09/20/1997)

3 Stars (out of 5) - ...a complicated suite about the end of the century from hip-hop's high-volume major-domo....rap's recent tragedies haunt the music....these tunes are so quick minded, witty and rhythmically on that they blast through hip-hop's current impasse...
Rolling Stone (10/16/1997)

...a new LP from Busta with more than a healthy respect for the radio and upbeat dance tracks to keep you moving in the club...
Rap Pages (12/01/1997)

4 Mics (out of 5) - ...WHEN DISASTER STRIKES is truly...a young man fulfilling his destiny....Busta Rhymes is winning because he has enough skills and charisma....Busta just may be the real future of the funk.
