My old Dirt Devil was used after some remodeling and became saturated with plaster dust. I needed a new one so I went to e bay and there I found a brand new Dirt Devil that had been improved. I really like the way it picks up pet hair and the cup that is easily emptied. My new dirt devil has a lot more power than my old one. I like it so much I purchased a second one for my daughter. The cost was less than if I had purchased the Dirt Devil at a department store. We are very pleased.

I give it an Average to be nice. I bought my first Dirt Devil hand vac in the late 1970's because of its size to do the carpet in my car. Back then they built it with metal and made to last. Had it for 15 years or so until we moved over sea and got lost, replace it when we got back with a so-called newer design one, which was called The Royal, made of plastic. Worked fine and came with hose and attachment which did very little due to the poor seals and leaks between the adapter from the hose to the vac itself. Did not have a pet then and just use it on car again. And After about a year of using, the motor fried and went out in the trash. But had a nice long cord. A few months ago, my wife asked to get another small hand held vac to do the stairs at work. She was tired of dragging the big vac around. So again I looked around and saw the NEW NEW Dirt Devil now called Classic. Wait was it not called that in the 70’s? With all of it’s praises on the New design and newly design filter. So once again I bought another. Now we have a dog and using it as an Animal vacuum works ok. But sorry to report the upholstery attachment never improved on design due to leaks. Besides been a pain to put on and take off of the hose. I won’t even go there about the replacement belt and costly hyper filter cost. If it did not need frequent replacing what can they sell you on a bag less? But I guess is like the new cordless drills. The drill is cheap, But the cost of the battery will kill ya! Better yet how about your printer? And I bet all of you out there still have your dad's or grandfather's old corded drill somewhere still working like new but not as colorful. All in all I give it a 3 out of 5 due to with this many years you think they would have spent the time to really improved the problems. If it was a Japanese vac you know they would have!

This Dirt Devil finally lives up to it name and has the greatest vacuuming power in its' class. With a bagless hypo allergenic system it should fit easily into anyones budget.
