While Avant is not averse to getting down and dirty when the situation arises, he's a romantic at heart, and many of the tunes here find him exulting in the glow of love with a rhapsodic zeal that's uncommon among many of his contemporaries. Alternately declaring himself a "Grown Ass Man" and a "Director" of carnal activities, Avant pulls off a marriage of slow-jam heavy breathing and visceral, up-front beats that makes DIRECTOR satisfying on both sonic and sensual levels.
