Album Notes A member of improvising ensemble AMM, British guitarist Keith Rowe is a most unlikely guitar hero. Based in jazz, Rowe was inspired by the early 1960s avant-garde to approach the guitar in novel ways, playing while it lay flat on a table-top, picking and plucking away using kitchen utensils. Rowe drew sounds unimaginable out of his instrument, and influenced all kinds of musicians from U.K. art-rockers Henry Cow to American noise-rockers Sonic Youth. REALITY is from 1989; those fascinated by abstract noise/sound-as-music should hear it, especially as this is one of his few unaccompanied discs.
