Publisher's Note Diego Rivera's style of painting and the subject of his work have been controversial. Gifted at an early age, this artist's father made it possible for him to draw on the walls of his room. Rivera created a style of painting that grew out of traditional Mexican native art. He was deeply influenced by Communism and the tremendous gap between the very rich and the poor both in the US and in Mexico.
