Dianetics by L. Ron Hubbard (2007, Hardcover)

I read Dianetics twice! It's such a big book and it has such a considerable amount of data, you've got to read it more than once! But, if you just read it once, at least you got more data than most of the people out in the world today. The people who just look for the "quick fix" to depression, etc. They just take a pill and assume it's all better, but it's never really handled that way. Dianetics has the answers, it tells you the CAUSE to depression and all those other mental ills, it's incredible! Wouldn't you rather HANDLE whatever is bothering you as opposed to taking pills every day and never really getting rid of it? Well, Dianetics can! I am now a Dianetics counselor and couldn't be happier. There's no greater feeling than knowing that you are actually helping your fellow man.

Now, when you do decide to read it, you must remember to look up any words that you do not know the meaning of, to look them up in the dictionary, it's very important. The main reason people give up something they are studying is because of those darn words that they don't know the meaning of! Luckily there is an excellent glossary in the new edition Dianetics books, you never need a dictionary because the glossary has it all!

The thing that Dianetics did for me the most is it got me to understand WHY, why people act certain ways, or get angry for no apparent reason, it gave me the answers, and I now don't know how I went on without them! But, I'm not telling you to take my word for it, just read it and see for yourself, and make sure to look up any words you don't know the meaning of!;) If you need any help on the book just go to the Dianetics website and contact a Dianetics Center, they will be more than happy to answer any questions or difficulties you come across. I've put Dianetics to the test and couldn't be happier with the results - where "happy" came out to be "tears of joy" at overcoming some very personal issues. Dianetics does what it claims in overcoming obsessions and compulsions. There is a solution where the other "-ologies" have barely even begun to understand the problems of the mind and had only come up with solutions that were no more sane than the problems they faced - or otherwise claim there is no solution. A real solution doesn't cause yet another problem, and doesn't need maintenance. The Reactive Mind is the real problem, and Dianetics has the solution. And that is my own, personal, heart-felt, opinion.

I had also put Dianetics to the test when working with a friend. What we found was most amazing: He had fallen and hit his head when running around his parent's living room as a child, and at the very moment he blanked out, the TV was blaring: "Tonight in the city there is a murderer on the loose." And that was the only phrase that had recorded into his Reactive Mind from that incident as he had only blanked out for a short moment. That phrase had been acting on him to varying degrees from then on -- it did not make him a murderer -- but it did make him irrationally nervous about going out at night. When we were in session and we found that recording, he busted out laughing then said, "Oh my God! That's why!"

It appealed to me from the 1st page. I couldn't put it down. The scientific evidence in the book is amazing. I've had a fear of heights for as long as I can remember, and after reading the book with a friend and using the information in the book we started walking each other through incidences that we could recall having happened to us at points in our past, and I literally have not had a moment of anxiety about heights since. I don't know what else to say. Amazing!

I decided to buy this book for more insight on the Scientology religion. I received the book and it was in perfect condition. I am very happy with my purchase, no complaints.

I have read and studied Dianetics as well as received and giving Dianetics auditing.

The book is great with great details although I don't know exactly if it is factual except to the author. I do know that a certain amount of Dianetics Auditing worked for me and others with situations. Personally on a personal level with friends auditing together it may be a good thing for some people.

In my own personal experience I found that Clear is kinda flattening the feelings of some situations but filling up the mind with lots of Dianetics and Scientology data and applying it to your daily life. I did this for a time but the data and belief just is not stuff I believe in. Unfortunately the auditing did not clear my past situations although it made me more aware of the experience so other types of talk therapy works for this also. Since I am looking for more peaceful feelings and more love for my fellows in everyday living this is not for me.

This book has been republished several times since 1950 and the last time there were many changes because it was believed that the original written documents by the author were not edited and typed properly and had many mistakes.I don't know or care, except for the fact that lots of people buy this new book that is supposed to be the correctly edited book.

So I will have to give this book and it's contents a 1 since I personally believe it leads people down the road to more depression when they find it in fact will not clear their mind. It also gets some people into Scientology and in my experience it is a mind control plot.

I purchased Dianectics because I was curious; I have heard so much about this book. It was very painful to read and I do not recommend it to anyone; it has probably reduced my IQ. People who agree with the author are probably not taking their medication or are very low on the food chain. If you do read this book please remember that the "facts" are not scientific. Just because the author states that something is a fact does not mean he is correct. OK, I'm done...I have already wasted enough time on this topic.
