Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (1994, Paperback)

I didn'r mean to purchase this book; I needed a later edition. I won the book however, and therefore had to pay the seller a fee. This was irritating, but as you can imagine, irrelevant to the quality of the literature.

Very useful! Needed for work, also very informative. Had no idea how much information would be contained until I received the book. Definite recommendation.

I bought The DSM-IV for my boyfriend for Christmas.

He likes it a lot, and uses it for upper division Psychology classes at the University of Oregon.

I am interested in psychology, and this is an excellent reference book. More fun reading than anything, because I do have a problem with the danger of "labeling", but it's a great piece of reference if you are careful not to fall into that trap of labeling and "case closed" and if you take it with a grain of salt. Also, again, great reference, especially for contrasting, when taken with the new edition. Not for the easy reader, can be a bit overwhelming unless you know how to maneuver throughout it.

I purchased the DSM for my daughter as she will be entering University in September, 2007; she will major in psychology/humanity studies. She was very happy with the condition of this 'gently-used' copy as it has no markings, odors, stains, tears, etc. She understands the value of preserving this particular type of text as it will service her for many years to come.

I was very happy with the price; the DSM retails for aprox. $80.00 US. The price I paid was a fraction of that amount. Shipping costs were also very reasonable. Delivery was timely, the book was packaged well, it was received in the exact condition as it was described on eBay, and my overall purchase experience was excellent right down to the seller.

For those of us who need to be 'creative' in supporting our needs, not just our 'wants'; eBay is a wonderful resource.

A great reference for those interested in mental illness. Covers all mental disorders and known treatments. Seemed less in depth compared to DSM-II, which had prompted me to buy my own manual.

What I love about this book is that it gives you the codes and the diagnosis for a particular disorder. It also explains and differentiates a particular diagnosis from another with a slight variation in the context. It explains the behaviors of a particular diagnosis giving you a visual picture so you can understand what the client is experiencing. This book is excellent and should be an addition to all mental health workers library.

I like that I can use this as a reference source for my practice. I often use it as a source of reference on a regular basis, counseling clients helping them to live a happier and healthier way of life.

I decided to buy this book because my book was taken and I needed to replace it ASAP. I saw it on Ebay at this great price and had to buy it, it was a great deal because these books are really very expensive. I was very lucky to catch this deal.
