Diagnostic Criteria from Dsm-IV (1994, Paperback)

I found this book very helpful. It is a universal language describing most aspects of human behavior. Although some topics are not covered, I understand there is a new update in the works.

it is sufficient for what i needed it for. its small and not as cumbersome as actual DSMIV. Contains enough information to assist in diagnosing or in developing treatment plans centered around existing diagnoses.

I am interested in psychology, and this is an excellent reference book. More fun reading than anything, because I do have a problem with the danger of "labeling", but it's a great piece of reference if you are careful not to fall into that trap of labeling and "case closed" and if you take it with a grain of salt. Also, again, great reference, especially for contrasting, when taken with the new edition. Not for the easy reader, can be a bit overwhelming unless you know how to maneuver throughout it.

This booklet is long out of print, which is a shame. It is an excellent reference tool for anyone working in the mental health field who needs a quick yet concise guide to all the coding numbers used in mental health diagnoses....it saves a tonne of time when filling out insurance forms, and when needing a quick reference to the finer points which separate one diagnosis ( or potential diagnoses) from the rest within one group.

This book is extremely concise, having not a single wasted word or page. For readers not in the mental health field, this book may be interesting but somewhat akin to reading a combination of a telephone book and a cook book. I use this book daily. It replaces an older version in my bookcase.
