  O-mazing DVD-O

This is a great priced DVD which captures Devo during my favorite era of them. It features most of my favorite songs and the quality is not HD, but it is pretty good considering the age and how old this concert is.

Its great to see that DEVO is still touring. Watching their video from the beginning of their fame brings back memories of all the concerts I attended throughout So. Cal.

Either you get these guys or you don't. If you do, you already know their freaking brilliant!! The DVD captures the boys in good form. Energy that only an athlete/genius could maintain. Schtick up the kazoo. A must for all who even remotely understand their art. Way ahead of their time. SMART!!

A must if you are collecting
Review created: 12/11/06

If you are new to DEVO i would recommend the LIVE AT THE LAND OF THE RAISING SUN DVD or their video clip set on DVD. I could not make the cd side work, but it does not matter, because you still have the DVD side. The good things about it are the extras, because you get rare DEVO performances, including the vey first performance at a University's auditorioum, pus performances as DOVE, the band of love. You have to be a true fan of them and understand their message of DE-EVOLUTION to really like this concert.
Let's remember this concert was filmed in 1980 or 81, so that gives it a lot of value as being one of the earliest performances ever recorded, making it a must for any DEVOtee, or fan.
The concert itself looks bootleg and poorly lit. with weird camera changes, which I guess were ok for the time. Most of the concert is performed under a bluish-green lighting, so it gets a little annoying at times.
The group itself is great and delivers the same ol good performance as usual.

  A must-have for all SPUDS!!!
Review created: 11/28/06

Despite the video quality, Devo - Live 1980 is a worthwhile addition to any spud's collection for the remarkable fact that a record of the show even exists. Considering it was shot in 1980 on Beta, it's pretty good considering the primitive circumstances (compared to today's live DVDs). But I believe this only plays into their deconstructive ideology.
Imagine if you will, the bands of the late 70s; [REO Speedwagon, Boston, Styx, Loverboy, & Foreigner]; then here comes DEVO in their industrial man-suits to clean-up rock & roll. And for me they did!
This is an awesome collection of 18 classics songs drawn from their first three albums. This is Devo as they are NOT remembered, guitar heavy monster-ART band, clearly way ahead of their time.

Yes! We are all DEVO!

  DEVO Live 1980

Devo was more than just a band: they were an art project. Complete with storyline, supporting characters, and mini-movies, Devo brought a new angle of music to the table.

The music on this DVD can also be heard on various commercials and TV shows today, although you may not have realized that. For the 80's, this band came across as futuristic, eclectic, nerdy, and just downright fun. Watch this DVD, and you just may become a better-late-than-never fan!

  A Good Show

Quality Audio, Good Video/Editing. A snapshot of the band a few records into their career. They progress thru the guitar lineup and all synth lineups w/ costume changes. I liked it.

DEVO ... A Blast from the Past!
Review created: 06/08/06

This is a great trip back in time to see Devo young and in their prime! I really enjoyed this video, thank goodness for someone to release this from the long-lost archives. Devo is stilll rockin even today! I like seeing the most familiar line-up with their old drummer Alan in the group. He sure can play a wicked beat! High recommendations from this buyer. I guess the same distributor is going to be releasing some footage of Devo playing as the cover band Dove, the band of love. There is bonus material with Dove performing "Praying Hands" and another tune I cannot remember at the top of my head. Go and get this!
