Description
PS2 action game with a dark, gothic look that stars a silver-haired descendent of a long-forgotten hero. Dante has inherited heroism from his ancestors, and along with it, vampiric genes, to boot. These generic attributes enable Dante to perform several important actions that make Devil May Cry unlike any action game Capcom has created before. Dante can shoot with guns and slash with several kinds of swords, but he's also able to transform into a hovering nightmare that's even more powerful. As Dante progresses through the game, he unearths numerous weapons (including his dual-pistols and shotguns), and powerful swords, each possessing various elemental powers. Among the enemies Dante fights are the low-class Demonic (which normally are slow but fight surprisingly fast), the grim-reaper like Death, which hover in air and travel through walls, and attack with scissors-like weapons and scythes, and the high-level castle rulers, the Phantoms.

      Devil May Cry (Playstation 2)

This is the best game I've ever played. No joke. The whole Devil May Cry series is bad ass! Everything about it from the actual gameplay, tricks, graphics, music, storyline characters, weapons arsenal, everything is beautiful. I can't wait for Devil May Cry 4 to come out.

This game just feels like it was pieced together without much thought. The story has little or nothing to do with the first game and does not follow the central story of Dante. The bosses and enemies are often unexplained and feel out of place. However, the gameplay mechanics are incredible. This game introduced to us the multi-directional shooting and wall running moves which would later be separated into "styles" in DMC3. The mele weapon choices are limited to variations of the same weapon (such as 3 swords) but the weapons themselves look great and it feels nice to wield a different sword once in a while. The addition of an unexplained random female character as another main character is very strange and adds to the confusion but she plays great. Her moves are also done well and feel very satisfying. This game could have been great with a different story-line and levels to go along with it. Let me stress once again, the gameplay mechanics are great and the game is worth playing to experience them. Although DMC3 includes the innovative moves from DMC2, it's not quite the same.
