Devil Bones by Kathy Reichs (2008, Hardcover)

Temperance Brennan is her usual Nancy Drew-like sleuth in this modern witch hunt novel. The occult and those who are self-proclaimed witches are uncovered in a new way with some actual dialogue about what they actually believe and are about. Fascinating story line with elements of suspense and the tragic killing of a police officer. The book is dedicated to those law enforcement personnel who keep that part of South Carolina safe.

Kathy Reichs' books rank up there with some of the best....Grisham, Baldacci etc.If you have watched "Bones" don't be disappointed but she has great story lines and her books are hard to put down.

Once again Kathy Reichs blows you away with her compelling story in Devil Bones. For me, this book was a little like comparitive religion in that it covers Wicca, Santeria, Voodoo, and one or two others are mentioned during the case and throughout the story. If you know nothing about these religions, you'll learn something. For me, it was a bit of a reminder for a few of them.

This core of the story is not your typical Temperance Brennan stuff, it's better. Set in North Carolina, you get a true feel for the areas mentioned, for the events, for everything really. If you're already a fan of Kathy's novels, you have to read this. If you love the TV show Bones, you're missing out by not reading the books. This one ranks at the top as one of my faves.
