Desperate Housewives - The Complete First Season (DVD, 2005, 6-Disc Set)

The women of Wisteria Lane drew enormous interest in the media since this adult rated TV show began airing on ABC. The story revolves around Martha Stewart-perfect Bree (Marcia Cross), who has it all, until she finds out her husband is cheating on her. Gaby (Eva Longoria) is a bored trophy wife whose predilection for shopping and clothes are the perfect decoy for her affair with the hunky teenage gardener (Jesse Metcalfe). Former career woman Lynette (Felicity Huffman) is the most stereotypical housewife, raising four kids and frustrated, and Susan (Teri Hatcher), the divorcee looking for love sees her prospects brighten with the arrival of hunky plumber Mike (James Denton), who has some desperate secrets of his own.

It is a fast and wild mix of plot and characters that made this a hit show. There are 23 episodes on this DVD set presented in widescreen format, and six of the episodes can also be viewed in "unrated, extended" versions. More fun is the five leading ladies' separate commentaries on few of their favorite scenes discussing the characters' clothes and homes, the show's appeal, casting decisions, the show's much-hyped secrets, and how naked Teri Hatcher had to be. Last, and least, there is a segment in which Oprah moves to Wisteria Lane.

I am the perfect example that anyone can enjoy this show. With a title like "Depereate Housewives" it seems to put alot of people off, becasue they don't believe that they can enjoy this wondeful show. Well I am here to set the record striaght. I am a 23-year-old male and Despereate Housewives has quickly become one of my top three favorite shows on the air behind Entourage and LOST.

The show is about four, sometimes five housewives and how there lives become meshed as they try to figureout the mystery behind why one of there fellow neighbors committed suicides. Beyond this mystery, each of the housewives have there own troubles at home to over come. Marcia Cross plays housewife one who has and off-again, on-again relations with her husband because he thinks she is too perfect, Felicity Huffman plays housewife two - a woman who has to deal with a husband who is never home and a home full of little monsters (also known as six and five year old boys), Eva Longoria plays housewife number three, a woman who isn't quit sure if her husband is the person she wants to spend her life with, and finally housewife number four player to perfect by Teri Hatcher is a 40-year-old woman who is recently divorced and has to take care of her 14-year-old daugter, but due to her neurotisisesy's it seems the daughter takes care of her.

I have just scratched the surface of what this show is about. During the first few episodes the show is trying to figure out what it wants to be (comedy or drama), yet it finally desided upon dramedy. The series won both the golden globe for best comedic series, but also for Teri Hatcher for best Actress (two additional actresses where nominated as well).

But what makes this series so special is the fact that it was a last chance at a career for most of the people involved. The creator was literally at the end of his ropes havn't to borrow money from his mother to write the script, and actresses Felicity Huffman and Teri Hatcher could no longer find work. This show is just a testiment that the old hollywood mantra "the younger, the better' does not apply anymore.

Desperate Housewives is an original and truly entertaining show. It's a fresh show which is far removed (finally!) from reality TV. I'm sure we would all move to Wisteria Lane if it was true reality.

Each episode is full of treachery, twists, mystery, deceit, and humor. It is well written and very well cast. Even if you're not one who's intrigued by the plot, the women (and men) of Wisteria Lane are far from eye sores. Although you won't obtain any enlightened knowledge from this show, each episode is 45 minutes of pure entertainment. It's television in its rawest form.

This all comes from a male point of view. You have to get this!

I first noticed Teri Hatcher as the girlfriend of Dr Sam Beckett, (Scott Bakula), in an early 1989 episode of Quantum Leap, the TV Show Series.

By the time Quantum Leap needed her back for the Donna Eleese role, Teri had gone on to playing Katherine 'Kiki" Tango in the TV series 'Tango & Cash'.

She went on to play Lois Lane in the TV series 'Lois and Clark, the New Adventures of Superman'.

Today we all know her as playing Susan in the hit TV show 'Desperate Housewives' !

The first season of 'Desperate Housewives' was great. Tina and I have both watched it from the first show till this past Sunday night. The second second season didn't disuade us from watching it, but it just wasn't the same!

This is the chance for all fans of the show to be able to view their favorite episodes over and over from the first season!

This is the show we all love to watch but would not tell because it tells our friends that we love to dish the dirt on our neighbors. I love the characterizations of the women. They show their strengths and weaknesses we all have and they do not always kiss and tell but when they do isn't that wonderful. How many of your neighbors do you see in these women and who would you like to take the place of for just one day! (Eva) I would recommend this to all.

This show definately started out as a guilty pleasure and well now I'm ok with my DH attraction. The show overall is absolutely amazing, and first and foremost its more of a murder mystery then a show about desperate women. In fact I would venture to say it has more to do with people then the women that inhabit Wisteria Lane. And I have now got all my friends and family hooked on it as well. And since I haven't really ventured through the DVD I can't exactly say how good the DVD is as far as special features are concerned but as a show its worth every penny to pick this one up. Although its hard to tell some of the guys that I need to go home so I can Reply Desperate Housewives, oh well its worth it!

The show depicts the mysteries on Wisteria Lane, an afflent suburban neighborhood on which the 5 main characters live. Season 1 begins with a murder and throughout the year we learn many interesting stories and mysteries about each person living on the street.

The show is brilliantly written and directed, so if you enjoy a light-hearted dramatic soap opera, this is perfect for you! The DVD contains bonus footage of deleted scenes and bloopers, making it especially interesting to those of us who are already captivated by the series. This DVD would make a wonderful gift for anyone who is in love with the show.

Watch the Housewives from the beginning! This is a great show, and a great DVD with lots of extras. This season is my favorite, simply because it is edgy and fun. You'll love laughing along with the girls during their crazy stunts.

This is the A-1-A example of why you do not f@*k with women, Heck after seeing this show I've sworn off women altogether (except maybe Rosie Palmer (Also her five sister can join if the wish)

This show has everything - friendship, rivalry, romance, breakup...

The main characters are :
- a housewife who must have everything in perfect order, but does not know what her husband and kids really think about her
- a mother struggling with the job of raising troublesome toddlers
- a wife who sticks to her husband for money, and gets other things elsewhere
- a hopelessly romantic lady looking for love, right after divorce

They all know what they want, and they want it desperately. It is fun to watch the way they set about getting it - by hook or crook.

This is a very fun and quick watch. The characters are GREAT, very entertaining. Like a daytime soap opera but MUCH better acting!

Buying the season DVD's is the BEST way to go-no commercials and you can pause it anytime you want. I recommend this DVD to everyone!!

From the first scene in the first episode, it's like a book you just can't put down. I watched the first season in two days, everything else just had to wait. It's that good.

I love having the first season because I can go back and see if I missed anything. It is fun having the set to view at my leisure during the summer so that when the new season starts I know the past. I am waiting now waiting for the next season.

I bought this item as a gift for my mother-in-law who became addicted to this show in the second season and wanted to get caught up.

The DVD discs are great and she loves them. Its the entire first season so now she knows everything that went on last season.

Watching Desperate Housewives is a lot like spoiling your brain with candy. You know there's not much value in it, but it's such a good time! Desperate housewives is one of the funniest shows out there right now. I bought it for my wife, but we both enjoy watching it just as much!

Real housewives so do not look like this.The only exercise they ever do is yoga yet they all have abs of steel without Dr.90210. And like did anyone ever see a gardener who looked like that.Yummy!Totally love it!

The gals from Wysteria lane will have you glued to this DVD set, if you like that sort of thing. Personnal, If I am gonna watch Terry Hatcher, then I will look up some Lois and Clark reruns! Housewives is so much fun. My wife and I watch it together. It only took a couple shows for me to see how good this series is. So I bought the DVDs.
