Derailed (DVD, 2006, Unrated Version: Widescreen)

I was curious to see this movie upon its release, in part to see how Jennifer Aniston would do in one of the more serious roles she has taken on in recent years and also as I think that Clive Owen is a great actor having been used to him as a regular on British Television from his days in the series "Chancer".
Critics seemed to pan this movie, so having lessened my expectations, I was pleasantly surprised and found this an entertaining, edge of your seat thriller there was an interesting twist, though for us, the plot did become a little too transparent and we were able to figure out the ending, well before its conclusion. That said, it was still interesting enough, that we wanted to watch until the end to see exactly how they would play out the scenes.
The movie does have some rough scenes, including a gritty, harsh rape scene and some violence - the premise being Owen and Aniston meet on a commuter train, develop an instant spark which leads down the infidelity path - but a violent thief interrupts their near first physical encounter by attacking Own and raping Aniston - this leads to Owen being blackmailed with no recourse.
It was an entertaining moive, with enough twists and suspense to keep me watching - sure it does not require much thinking to uncover the plot - but thre are still enough suprises to fire your interest and keep you watching until the end!!

Comming of her 10 year roll Jennifer Aniston plays a very in depth part that you wouldn't typically see here in. Playing a young married woman who lends a hand to a married man and before you know it they are heading to a hotel room to have an affair which is where the whole mess starts. When someone breaks into there room robs them, beats them and rapes her. That is just the begining of this fasted paced movie that leaves you on the edge of you seat so sit back grab so popcorn and enjoy. Believe me you wont know what is comming next.

Charles's (Clive Owen)life gets turned upside down when he flirts with a stanger (Jennifer Aniston) on a train during his morning commute. What seems like an innocent affair turns into a deadly game of blackmail and murder in this hot thriller. This is the best thing I've seen Jennifer Aniston in. She has real depth as an actress. I love the ending. Most movies are predictible this one wasn't.

This is the best suspense movie that I have seen in a very long time. I was really impressed. Two married executives (played by Jennifer Anniston and Clive Owen) meet on a commuter train one day and spark up a friendship that turns into an affair. When they go to a hotel to have sex, someone breaks in and robs them, rapes her, and beats him up. After that the guy has their contact information and starts black mailing them. This movie is totally action packed and leaves you on the edge of your seat. It was so surprising. You get to see a whole new side to Jennifer Anniston's acting. She was great.

I must say that this movie kept me and my wife on the edge of our seats the entire time we watched it. I would rate this movie excellent on the scale. Jennifer Anniston, and Clive Owen were outstanding together in this film, and never once did the plot lose its value.

The movie Derailed is a great plot within a plot, it moves quickly and captures one's attention from beginning to end. And may I say the ending is a great piece of work. The opening leaves one wondering where the scene was supposed to be leading and why it was shown until the end of the movie, it was masterfully blended and leaves one grinning at the connivence of the actor in his personally slick means of getting even. The movie is excellent and I highly reccomend.

I really liked this movie. I thought the acting was good. The storyline took some twists and turns. It was gritty and suspenseful. You won’t be disappointed at the end. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I did enjoy it.

I really like this movie. It starts out like maybe a cute movie then you get that one two punch in the gut, wow.Jennifer aniston & clive owen are specially stunning and work well together, you could just feel the chemistry between them.Jennifer to me is really remarkable is this movie, in that this is totally a different role then your use to seeing her in and she nails it right on the head, fantastic.Vincent cassel is reveting as the ruthless bad guy.It is a terrific movie with more surprises that you don't see coming. It reminds me of an old alfred hitchcock movie, its that great.

Heavily criticised on it's cinema release but i found this a watchable thriller and not as implausible as many crtics have said.The plot is farily simple but there's enough in the story to keep your interested and the always watchable Owen and Anniston deliver decent if not outstanding performances and Anniston's role in particular delivers one or two surprises and is a departure from her normal goody two shoes characters.
I guess there are a few cinematic liberties taken but then so do most thrillers don't they.I could list dozens of other Hollywood thrillers that were less exciting and more far fetched than this one so don't believe everything the cinema critics say.
A decent,watchable but not outstanding thriller awaits the viewer here - not the best of the year but certainly not the worst.

Good overall movie, I love Jennifer Anniston, she did a good job in this movie. I really liked the twists and turns at the end of it...worth owning!

Jen does awesome! This movie freaked me out! I thought about it for a few days it was soooooooooo GREAT such a thriller! Great acting well done movie!!

The movie aside, Jennifer Aniston steps out of her traditional funny-girl role in this dramatic and not-so-suspenseful movie.
The movie wasn't terribly gripping, and it certainly was predictable, but Aniston gave a shocking and stunning performance as Lucinda Harris, a "powerful busineswoman".
Overall, the film was one of those anxiety stricken movies that demand your anger at the characters for their easily forseeable demise due to their ridiculous life choices. Some critics have said "thriller of the year".... I wonder if they were watching the same movie?
The unrated version put back some gratuitous sex scenes, and is none the better for it.
Kudos to Aniston, and shame on the director for insulting the audience with foreshadowing that tipped us off to what should have been a surprise ending.

Overall this was a fun movie to watch in the thriller genre...but it could have been a lot better. The beginning and the end were very well done, but in the middle of the film it broke down a bit with several instances that made you wonder if anyone could actually make decisions that illogical. That makes it a little hard to pull for a character that won't utilize readily available resources...but by the final third of the movie they have you back on the main character's side again. Definitely don't pay to see this in a theater, but will make for a nice rental.

I bought it based on the trailers. I liked the movie mostly because of the pure evil blackmailer, and I LOVED the ending. The only thing I found unbelievable, was the absolute stupidity of the main character.

I thought this movie really showed Jennifer Aniston in a different light. The story line was well done...kept me on the edge of my seat til the very end.

this was a pretty good movie the only thing was it was very easy to figure out the story line. I think that they could have kept you guessing about it alittle more.

I bought it because J. Aniston is my favorite actress. I have seen all of her movies. In this movie I got to see a completely different side of her acting, proving once again she can act any way.

This movie was great from start to finish. Jennifer Anniston is hotter than ever. This sexy non stop action thriller kept us on the edge of our seats. You'll never suspect how its going to end because it is so well scripted. We're not big fans of rap, but even Xzibit and ZBT give great performances in addition to Clive Owen. We rented it and would love to own it!

I love movies that have a twist at the end. Something you don't expect to happen. This does just that. Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen are SO good together!
