Delta Force: Black Hawk Down (PC Games, 2003)

Delta Force: Black Hawk Down by Novalogic

I recently had Delta Force: Black Hawk Down given
to me as a gift. I was eager to start playing this
game (even though it was old) as I love first person
shooter type games.

I was really interested that Novalogic took the
actual events that happened in Somalia as a story
background to this game. I'm really into geo-policical
stories and I thought that I would love this game.

The graphics for BHD were really nice. They even
hold up to today. I enjoyed the ablity to pick weapon
combos and equip my character to my hearts content.

The game play was agonizing. It was both easy and
difficult all at the same time. I'm used to playing
FPS's and I even decided to give up on this game.
If I wanted to move left I peeked left. When I wanted
to equip a gun I grabbed my knife. When I wanted to
enter a vehical, or use a weapon on a vehical I went
for the manual to try and figure out the insane keyboard
combination to get it to work.

I should have realized this was a tough game when it
came with a cardboard map for my function F keys 1-12. :(


All in all I'm giving this game a 3/5. The graphics
are pretty. The story has legs. But I hope you have
more patience for the game play then I did.

I'll probably not buy any more Novalogic games in the
future.
