BUYER BEWARE. If you want to know about Dell LCD TV's just go to Dell's own "Community Forum". Many, many people there that are having issues with the sets not being able to power up. I too was one who had an issue. Mine was 7 months out of warranty and the response I got from Dell was "we can sell you a refurbished one for $850.00. Dell will not fix these TV's and you cannot get anyone else to touch them. There are no parts available. There are people on the forum that have been through 6-7 of these sets. This is well beyond the typical "negative" you normally hear about any electronic device. These sets are having significant problems.

  Buy Something Else!

I am currently on my 4th one of these bad boys. The first 3 all failed to power up after different periods of time but all within the first year. I am now out of warranty and this 4th unit has been working for sometime. The picture quality is ok, especially across the room, but there are other more hassle free products out there. Save yourself a headache, buy something else!

Power up Problem Definitely, BE AWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review created: 10/11/06

I definitely have the same issue others reviewers have as well. I bought dell W2600 lcd tv brand new and after 3 months it failed on powering up. Then after 9 months it failed again. I got my second replacement--my third tv from dell. Then now this third one also failed on the same problem. And it is out of warranty, dell will not fix it but then can sell me another one for $999. How ridiculous it is that I just throw 1000 bucks into water for a one year usage. Dell customer service agree we customers become victims of the product but there is nothing they are going to do.

I'd definitely suggest buyers run away from dell tvs.

  Worst purchase ever!

I am on my second one and it just died. When I bought the tv I was initially impressed and really enjoyed it as a monitor for my pc with WME. Within the first few months the internal power supply took a dump (would not turn on anymore). Contacted Dell and eventually got a new tv sent out. That second tv just had the CCFL backlight go out(tv powers on but no picture/video display) and Dell says I am out of warranty so pretty much sorry about your luck. These TV's don't last very long at all, neither of them lasted the full length of a warranty period and searching the web it seems to be a common problem. Save your money go with something else. Oh and worst customer support and product support ever!

I would say this TV is ok but not as sharp as the Dell 24 wide screen ultrasharp monitor (which is much better).

It has an excellent picture for the price, a totally rockin monitor :). Sound was unbelieveable for the size of the speakers, it will thump my room lol. Its an excellent television as well, but I mainly use it for a monitor (geeky me :)). So far i have had no issues with this big boy since I have had it. The internet looks SO Much better on this large screen. "I can see clearly now".

I purchased this about a year ago and the picture was unwatchable. Contrast, resolution, color, all dreadful. Since Dell does not take them back I had to donate it charity. Personally, I would never buy a Dell TV again unless they accept returns, no questions asked, and covered the shipping back as well.

I have had this Dell LCD now for about 6 months and I am still as impressed and happy with this product as when I first set it up out of the box. The capabilities are numerous. The picture quality with HD compability is like icing on the cake! I am currently deployed in Kuwait and use this LCD at work and have invested in a rather expensive case just so that I can take it back home. The Pic n Pic is super. I tell eveyone that if you had told me Dell made a product this good I woul have called you a BALONI artist! Without a doubt if you are in the market for a SUPER LCD I can not highly recommend this LCD enough! U will not be disappointed!

DO NOT BUY ANY DELL PRODUCT!!

Dell sucks - you know it, I know it and the sad part is that Dell knows it but doesn't care. They used to be a great company until they shipped all their jobs overseas and hired incompetent idiots.
Most Dell employees are fed up as well. The company knows how bad moral is but, once again, could care less.
I bought a 30" TV W3000 and it will not power up at all. No warranty - no options other than a paper weight. Spend your hard earned money with a quality product that has a customer service department that cares. Dell doesn't - wonder why their stock has sucked so bad for 7 years.....hmmmmmm. Michael should close up shop and give a real company like Apple the business.

Same problem as everyone else. After 5 months of working great, the power relay switch is faulty and burns out. No more tv just a big old paperweight.

My story starts out like this...After 5 months of great usage, it began to show signs of breaking down. After the TV has been turned off, when I go to turn it back on it doesn't turn on. After couple hours or so I tried and turned on. This has been happening for a week. So to speed up the cooling time, I would place a house fan near the back to rapidly cool it. It worked, after 10 minutes I was able to turn it back on. Was annoying but lived with it for couple weeks.
Month later I the first procedure above wouldn't work anymore. But unplugging the TV than plugging it back it made it work. I guess it reseted the power relay switch cause I am thinking the tv went into sleep mode and never woke up unless I reseted it by unplugging and plugging it in. So that even got little more annoying. than another week went by and now the whole damn thing doesn't even want to turn on. Now I have a big paper weight and with a beautiful black screen

To my understanding Version v05 is the updated version that addresses this issue. I heard people are trying to file a class action suit on Dell's poor decision to sell this product with a faulty power supply.

  No Longer Powers Up
Review created: 02/10/07
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

After 5 months of use it no longer powers up. Dell can't do anything since the original seller will not give his order# thus keeping Dell from backing the warranty. I've since bought a newer 24" Dell monitor. I've now learned of this recurring problem with these monitors and would strongly advise staying clear of both the 23" and 26" W' models.

Same Problem - Time for Class Action?
Review created: 01/30/07
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I have the same problem all of you have had. About 17 months out of the box and the thing won't power up. When we do get the thing on we have to leave it on...knowing this may be the last time we can use it. All of Dell's parts are proprietary so no one will fix them - not even Dell! They offered to give me a refurbished one with 90 days parts and labor for $850. It's one thing to have one of these TVs fail when the warranty runs out, but all of them? I've been reading forums on this machine all day and some posters have stated customer service reps at Dell told them that the company was aware of the problem and did not issue a recall. They should not be able to profit from these lemons. I have over $10,000 of Dell equipment in my home and office and they still don't seem to be bothered.

Like the rest of you I agree this LCD TV is horrid. I hade mine for a good year and then it would not go back on. The power supply on these things are so bad. I could not return mine because it was out of warranty and after calling Dell 5 times and talking to so many different people I could buy a new set for $750. Don’t waste your time, buy something that works . . .

How to "Fix" Dell W2600 LCD
Review created: 05/12/07
by:
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I ordered mine from the Dell website for £350 over a year ago, thought it was a bargain, 2 days later it was delivered, the guy who delivered it told be it would be broken within a year. He was right! It is now out of waranty and has the same problem as all the others. Goood news is there a kind of fix.
If you hold in the power button for about 5 seconds you'll hear a clicking sound, then just release the button and power it up as normal. Not ideal, but at least you can use it.

Dell W2600 is a big paperweight. No more Dells for me!!

I bought it because it was HD and I could also use it as a 2nd monitor for my work. It was fine until it wouldn't turn back on one day. I had the warrenty so it was replaced, and the 2nd one just konked out too -- after my warranty ran out.

This is totally maddening. If you are thinking about buying this TV all I can say is DON'T!!! Shame on Dell for putting these out in the market. Because of this bad experience I will never buy another Dell product in my lifetime. And I will share my experience with family and friends in the hopes that it saves them from being ripped off.

I bought two of these tvs at $1300 each and both had to be refurbished about 4-5 months of usage. Once the warranty runs out, you are completely screwed. I have been searching for repairs and talked to the foreigners that run Dell customer service and nothing came out of it. If you are a huge risk taker, then feel free to buy it with the guaranteed that you will have to replace the set within a year or less. My suggestion is that buy anything but Dell, at least you will have a chance of a good set. With Dell it's a guarantee that you wont. Why do you think that there are so many REFURBISHED set available.

After 3 years, yes I said 3 years, my W2600 hasn't played up once.
I use it constantly for HD gaming, PC, Digital, DVD, retro gaming etc and not one problem. I feel sorry for you people with problems.
I work for an Audio Visual Company and we are currently using three of the 1080p 20" version for our Encore processors after my recommendation.

I'd looked for 6months for the perfect flat panel TV. Samsung was what I wanted, then I saw the Dell W2600 and fell in love. It sleekness and the technology is awesome. Picture quality is awesome. I puts out a lot of heat which I don't like. But overall, it's excellent, and I purchased it on EBAY for an exceptional price.
