Dell did a great job with this monitor

A very nice monitor, even fast enough to play video games!!!

Can you imagine having a desktop area of 2560x1600 pixels? How it becomes so easy and confortable to work on 2 pages at the same time with word or view an entire large spreadsheet without to have to scroll every second.

I like the built-in memory card reader, very convenient to upload my photos. I like the built-in USB2 4 ports concentrator too that I use to connect my gamepads.

I see only 4 inconvenience:
- No OSD menu for non Dell PC unit,
- it needs a very powerfull dual link DVI-D graphic card (be sure to have the suitable one),
- the brightness is not uniform all over the display,
- no HDMI connector even if the monitor is HDCP compliant.

Dell just released a new version of this monotor that I would recommend: The 3007WFP-HC. This monitor solves the brightness uniformity problem encountered with the regular 3007WFP.

Despite the complaints from the other reviewers, you cannot buy a better monitor. The lack of connections is not wiothout reason. There is no S-video because s-video was made for 640 x 480 resolution, would you really want to use only 1/13 of your monitor to do anything? No. This is the same reason for no VGA input and no RCA input and no HDMI input, none of these connectors can carry enough signal to utilize the full resolution of this fantastic monitor. As far as problems with even brightness throughout the screen, I have not seen any problem, the other reviewer probably just is using an inferior video card. This monitor does require a Dual link DVI video card. I use a Sapphire Raedeon X1950 XTX card as my graphics card and I have not had any problem, no lagging, no distorted colors, everything has been smooth and crisp. I have not had a single problem with this monitor, it seems to run cooler than the Apple version of this display.

  Non-Delivered Merchandise

I cannot provide a review of the Monitor because it was never delivered. To date based on a lack of correspondence, Ebay,Paypal and DHL have done little to resolve this. The verified seller through DHL shipped a package which supposedly contained the monitor to an address in Providence R.I. instead of to my home. Ebays response to this situation was to instruct me to at first seek a charge back from my credit card company. Ebay's next instruction was for me to pursue this directly with the seller. DHL has a signed receipt from the company that received the "package" however when DHL tried to recover the merchandise to ship it to me it was no where to be found. The total cost of the monitor with shipping was $1470. PayPal insurance will only cover $1000. The only organization looking after my interests is American Express. The company is actively looking into this. DHL has provided me with a claim form to seek reimbursement.
I have purchased a number of items from Ebay over the last several years. This appears to be a clear case of fraud. A buyer is clearly at risk for items costing over $1000. In addition Ebay and PayPal have limitations as to what they can do to remediate this.

Great Monitor- If you have the computer to run it.
Review created: 02/09/07
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This is a great monitor. After only one day using it at home, I went in to the office and thought about how small the 22 inch monitor looked on my desk. I wish I could convince my employer to put a dell 30 inch on my office desk.

If you are considering purchasing this monitor, you will need to make sure you have a graphics card (and computer) that will support the resolution. This uses a dual link dvi cable which looks like a standard DVI cable, but has extra pins in it. It only uses one cable. Dual link is one cable, not two cables. This one connection is the only connection on the monitor for video.

The monitor will run in lower than the 2560x1600 resolution, but it does not look as good. I got a new monitor (not refurbished) from a dell reseller on eBay, and it has 3 dead pixels. Which is not bad out, considering it has over 4 million pixels. Overall this is the largest monitor out there for the price. The only other 30 inch at this time is the apple and it is almost double the price.

DVD playback: remember the resolution of the monitor is alot higher than even HD and double most DVD's so watching DVD's on it makes the video stretch out.

What you can do: You can check email, surf the web, and watch a dvd or tv with a tuner card all at the same time.

Others reaction: Everyone says I went overboard, and that this is the biggest monitor they have ever seen. They are right on both accounts.

  Great Monitor

This monitor allows you a great desktop size. It allows you to have more programs open, and easily do graphic design work. The resolution is high, images, and text are very crisp. It plays dvd's very well. Video games are sharp, and give you a big advantage with the field of view you have. I would have given this a five if it weren't for the lack of connections. It would be nice to have a component connection, or s video. Make sure you have a video card that can handle this monitor. All dual dvi should be able to handle it in 2d. But if you plan on using it in 3d you better make sure you have a high end graphics card or sli setup. I'm running it on a Nvidia 7950GX2 which is 2 video cards in one. It runs great on this card.

  Excellent 30" Dell Monitor
Review created: 01/04/07

As a graphic designer, I am picky about which monitors I will look at all day. This monitor exceeded all my expectations. Sharp in all four corners and big enough to display my work page plus all the additional menus that a power user of Adobe software needs. Has side inserts for different digital photo media too. My only dislike is that it does not use VGA, only dvi cables. I also spend at four hours a week doing racing simulations and it's like looking through your windshield! I love it. And half the cost of a Apple monitor.

The 3007WFP is huge & nicer looking model than the other competition. The 3007WFP monitor is a great looking model that needs no updating at this time in my opinion. I now own the 3007WFP & 2 Dell 2005FPW Monitors and I purchased a Dell 2405FPW for my Mother & all of them perform flawlessly. I did have similar issues with this purchase and 2 other Dell Monitors that I had purchased through Ebay. When the seller's advertise these monitors, they are giving inaccurate descriptions when it comes to the warranty. The seller are selling these monitors with a transferable warranty through Dell. (This is false information!) Dell will not transfer the warranty of a standalone monitor due to the fact that there is no Service Tag or Express Service Code that come with a Dell monitor. Also Dell's online (Warranty Transfer Form) will not work either for the same reasons that I previously stated. (Dell's Online Warranty Transfer Form) only works for any item that came with a Service Tag & Express Service Code # ...... items such as a Dell Computer Tower, A Dell Laptop, or even a Complete Dell Computer System. However....Dell will recognize the Ebay buyer's purchased standalone monitor warranty under the following conditions only.
I called Dell to verify this information!
The Ebay Buyer must be able to provide the following information to Dell.
1 Original Dell Shipping address, Ph Number & Billing Address:
2 Original Dell Contact name:
3 Original Dell Customer account number:
4 Original Dell Order Number:
5 You also need to know was the item originally purchased from Dell Home & Home Office Division or was it purchased through Dells Small Business Division? This will direct you to the correct phone number to call if you need to call. ( I highly recommend to anyone who has purchased a Dell Monitor or complete Dell system to call Dell and verify that the warranty information is accurate on your purchases that were made through Ebay.) If you have all of the original Owner's information that I have previously stated, Dell will assist you. Many of Dell's support people are of foreign decent so be patient with them. They maybe hard to understand. I have purchased 3 Dell monitors through Ebay and I am very happy with the performance and warranty's that were provided.
I gave this monitor a great score due to the variable resolution up to 2560 x 1600 and crisp panoramic view that it provides. Allot of folks say the images are fuzzy on a big LCD such as this, but I say to you....if your computer has a poor or low quality video card or integrated video, then you will never experience the full potential of this monitor. (GET A QUALITY GRAPHICS CARD). When I look and an old standard VGA monitor everything looks crunched together. There is very little scrolling with the mouse to view a high resolution image on the Dell 3007WFP screen. This monitor is great for those working with Photo and Video Editing. I truly enjoy the the look and the new computer feel that this purchase provided. The Multiple connection types that are provided and the extra USB ports along with a 9 in one card reader are a huge plus. I can run several different applications at once on screen. Great versatility. The only down fall with the new wide screen monitors is the screens can be damaged very easily. Be careful to clean the screen with recommended cleaners only. Treat this monitor with care and you will be as happy as I am with it.
Signed,
(Another Satisfied Customer)

Excellent monitor for an Unbelievable price!!
Review created: 03/20/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The price is a MAJOR reason on why I choose to buy it. 3007WFP-HC for less than $940?? Come on.. This is a steal!!

Moreover, I get this monitor with all of its original packaging intact! Even the user manual is included. I am totally impressed by this monitor size and precision. Let me remind you, this monitor is HUGE!! Your desk better have some room for it or you would have to visit your local IKEA store pretty soon..

The shipping for this item is quite fast. I ordered it on tuesday morning and it arrives 8 days later. Quite satisfactory I would say.

Overall, I am very impressed with the price/performance ratio of this monitor!

  3007WFP-HC review

Although color reproduction and uniformity still can't beat a CRT, this LCD is about as close as you can get. If you gave been waiting to do the switch, this is the monitor to get (3007WFP-HC). Make sure you get the (HC) version which has high color reproducton. The large 16:10 30" surface in my opinion beats having two smaller screens. I was plesantly surprised that there is little visible font distorsion even when not running in native resolution which is too small. Good brightness, good contrast, good color, good viewing angle (for an LCD). I only have two gripes. First, the lowest brightness setting is still to high. Second, there is no OSD (on screen display) built into the monitor. For those who adjust brighness every day depending on the amount of light in the room this can be cumbersome because there is no way to see where the brightness is being set at in a numeric way. The monitor does come with a software OSD which works through USB but it is buggy and unreliable. It fails to appear half the times, some times it does not go away, sometimes the background looses its transparency when Vista's Aero is disabled. If DELL ever fixed their OSD software then I would rate this product "Excelent".

Pros: Awesome monitor, its huge really! its a big upgrade for me from my syncmaster samsung monitor to this!(Dell 3007WFP). When im playing COD2 its absolutely good, you can clearly see your enemy. Nice light adjustment, and its 2560 x 1600 pixel. This monitor is good for ppl that wants to do multi-tasking, you can fit all the running program. I thought i was goin to be diassapointed on this monitor because its wide, and i thought viewing movies on full screen on this monitor would look like flat and wide .BUT!!! itll adjust what your original video frame, whether its 4:3 5:4 or 16:9 aspect ratio.
Cons: I only give this a "4" because it wasnt enough for me, i thought there was a vga connector and a video input in this monitor, it only has dual DVI link. I was hoping it would have vga, because i thought i can play ps3,xbox360 and wii using this monitor. Ill have to wait and save money to buy xbox360 and try this monitor using the vga to dvi thingy magiggy. Also, while looking the screen at the side (left or right) you can see kinda purple color. and when try to view a plane Black on the whole monitor it doesnt really look like black/.

Monitor arrived in a timely manner. Was poorly packed in an square box partially filled with peanuts. It was a miracle that it was not damaged in shipment. (Able to check for physical damage to screen. Cables and cards on order so we can check electronics some day.)
We were surprised to find that there was no manual, power cord, or DVI cable.

  Amazing Monitor
Review created: 04/08/09
by:

Work is so much easier with all the extra screen real estate. Movies look amazing.

Personally, I think this is MUCH better than the newer 3007wfp-hc and 3008wfp because is has a standard color gamut. If you use a newer model, then most programs will display colors too saturated and look unnatural. You have to have a special plug-in for firefox (to view web content with correct colors) and use pixel shaders with a specific media player for movies to look correct.

This 3007wfp is in my opinion still the best 30" monitor you can buy today.

  Excellent for video production
Review created: 03/08/09
by:

Sure, there are reasons to buy the Apple monitor this size - the slick brushed aluminum, the sleek design. In terms of usability, though, this Dell unit is far better. It has better accessibility features (usb, card readers) and better input options, and has excellent flexibility in terms of fine-tuning the picture. I'm not much of a gamer, but I do use this primarily for video editing - color accuracy is of paramount importance to me. So far, I am very happy with what I get from this monitor.

  3007wfp
Review created: 02/26/09

Naturally I decided to go with the 30" due to the enormous amount of screen real estate. It takes up my whole field of vision. I can hardly tell if I am mentally visualizing or looking at a screen the edges are so far beyond the periphery. I upgraded from a 24" DEll and the difference is much more than I anticipated. Both in size and quality. I would have preferred the response time of the Samsung though this one is so clear and fluid that I probably wouldn't have noticed it. And at five hundred less than the samsung in retail value you can hardly go wrong with the 3007wfp.

  30 inches of eye candy
Review created: 05/05/08
by:

Excellent monitor for the price. My previous DELL flatscreen was a 2407WFP - 24 inch- and that seemed big when I got it. This one is MUCH more eye candy.. makes the 24 inch seem small in comparison. Didn't realize how much enjoyment I was missing playing games like Crysis and MS Flight Simulator, etc. until you hook up one of these large screen monitors.

Awesome monitor with no problems. Exactly what I wanted, and for the price I am very pleased. Debated between the 3007WFP HC and 305T, but due to the lower price and great reviews I decided to go with the Dell and have yet to experience any buyers remorse, which for me is rare when making a purcuse of this magnitude.

Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP Monitor and 8800GTS Video Card
Review created: 04/05/08
by:

The monitor has excellent picture quality and was easy to set-up.

I also purchased a eVGA NVIDIA 8800GTS video card (in a separate auction) with dual digital inputs so that I could use 2 digital monitors with my desktop.

I had concerns about set-up problems when installing both a video card and a new hi-res monitor, but there were no problems at all. Both the video card and the monitors were plug-and-play, and were a snap to get operational.

The large monitor is perfect for large spreadsheets, and the second monitor works perfectly for monitoring emails or any second task.

I'm glad that I made the upgrade to the larger monitor and installed the new card.

Dell's 30" Monitor on Multiple PCs with addlogix 's KVM

Our company purchased the Dell 3007WFP Monitors a year ago, we are now upgrading to dual 30 and use of addlogix dvi 2G KVM - the best finally a method to maximize the 2560 x 1600 resolution on multiple computers. The only thing that could be better is more deskroom to support a couple more. If you have the right graphics cards ati 8880 GTX or better you won't be dissatisfied

  Excellent monitor for the money!
Review created: 01/29/08
by:

I bought this on a chance after reading that Dell and Apple are both suppled by Sony -- so the insides of this magnificent monitor are identical to those of the Apple 30" cinema display that runs a thousand dollars more, even on eBay! And it actually has more outputs etc.
Running it on an older G5 dual PPC with an ATI Radeon X850XT 256 card on it. Plugged it into the AVC out at first, the card wouldn't see the monitor at full res. So replugged it into the regular DVi output - voila - no problems ever since.
It's very sharp. I bought it to evaluate HD footage and I must say I can now see exactly what I'm doing!
I'm a professional video editor, BTW, and run Final Cut and Avid all day long. I have another video card plugged into my G5 so right now the 30" is the center screen and I have a 22" on either side of it.
Can't say I don't have enough screen real estate now.

Excellent buy, highly recommended.
