Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP 24 inch LCD Monitor

This is a perfect upgrade from the Dell 20 inch. The Dell UltraSahrp
24 inch is one of the best creation by Dell. The screen is wider, it
looks almost like a plasma TV, full HD capability. Dell was actually one of
the first to com up with the rectangle screen monitor. I like the rectangle
because I hate scrolling across. If more viewing area is what you look for in
a monitor, this monitor will not let you down. The image is crystal clear.
Some of them come with little speakers attached at the bottom of the monitor,
I personally do not like those speakers - I simply think they diminish the value
of the monitor, but my customers think otherwise.

I watch Blu-Ray HD movies and play games at 1920x1200 using the following setup:
Intel Core2Quad Q6600 (@ 3.6Ghz, 8x450. VID 1.3250)
4GB OCZ Reaper PC2-6400 (@ 450Mhz)
Sapphire HD Radeon 4850 (100242L)

Absolutely flawless monitor. Some people notice 'input lag'. However, I play CoD W@W, CS: Source, and other FPS games without any noticeable input lag. I've played on CRT monitors and another 2005FPW (S-IPS LCD), so I assume that I would notice it if it were significant... or maybe I'm just not as sensitive to it? I'm fairly competitive at gaming, and typically rank in the top 10% on any given CS:S server I play on.

Amazing number of inputs. Color should be calibrated before doing any serious graphic work. I've edited tons of pictures and HD video (1920x1440 - Canon HG10) using Premiere Elements 7 and don't have any complaints.

Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP, This is it. The best there is, and as a rule I do not like Dell, but this monitor has it all. The great stand the bright screen the color gamut of 110% plus I can go way far to the side before colors distort thx to the PVA panel. I cannot say enough good things about this monitor. Only thing I wish it had was a near bullet proof glass panel over the screen because i'm so protective of it now.

Due to limited space, I use this as a computer monitor, TV monitor, and gaming display. I've owned quite a few monitors, and due to the high-end MVA panel used in the Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP, the picture quality dramatically surpasses all of them - even that of the excellent HP w2408h monitor that I previously owned. The images look lifeless and fuzzy on the others when compared side-by-side. Additionally, the image on the cheaper panels fall apart when not viewing them straight on, but the MVA panel on the 2408 maintains its vivid colors and sharpness even when viewing from an angle.

Unlike video cards, processors, motherboards, and other computer tech items, a high-end monitor will not become quickly outdated, useless, and nearly worthless. With its superior panel technology and the ability to display 1080p resolution, buying one of these is an investment that will provide many years of satisfaction in return.

Just ordered my new 2408wfp and its great. Very comfortable plug ins. The screen itself is very sharp and vivid and it is HUGE. Very good quality. Oh and dont believe that bullsh*t lag on youtube. I have revision a01 and its great. NO lag whats so ever. and for $400 bucks *ITS A STEAL*

I got this monitor because I wanted a high quality monitor.
I really love the swivel easily and height adjustment. Turning this monitor on its side makes it ideal for reading forums and web pages, it is then 1200 pixels wide, and 1920 pixels tall. :)
It has PLENTY of connections! It has DVI, HDMI, Displayport, and others. It also has RCA audio ports to connect your speakers to it if you want to use it as a TV screen...
As all Dell Ultrasharp monitors it has USB ports and a card reader slot, which I find very handy.
The 110% color gamut is very impressive, everything is very vivid.
I got this monitor and it is a good investment for my eyes, and for productivity!
The 2408WFP uses the same panel as the Samsung 245T, so the quality should be very similar.
This monitor is a good buy!

PROS: Really nice moniter. It acts like a tv w/o the tuner, because of so many inputs and abilities to change contrast etc.
has a high pixel rate and is good for everyday use.. its actually huge! and i use it as my second monitor and makes me very productive..

CONS: only complaint is that with a 5ms delay playing games tends to be slow especially in FPS games, but if you're not a gamer dork then it should be fine..

ive heard complaints that the colors can be TOO vivid, but thats adjustable and didnt really bother me at all..

Bottom line: Impress your friends with this monitor.

This is a gorgeous display. I already had a 1920x1200 display on my Precision M4300 laptop and never had any complaints. But the Dell 2408WFP is a much crisper, brighter display. I have used both the DVI and VGA inputs and am looking to trying it with an HD signal soon.

The swivel operation is smooth, easy, and gives a whole new experience to looking at photographs, documents, and web pages. Just be sure that you give the monitor plenty of room to rotate.

The only complaint I would have (and it is a minor one to be sure) is the physical footprint of the unit. I have an Altec Lansing soundbar which is designed to fit under most flat monitors - but the width of the base prevented it from fitting properly with this monitor. I eventually removed the 'wings' of the soundbar and it fit.

So, far I love this monitor and there is nothing wrong with it as of now. The seller sold me a legit monitor packed in its original box. Came with everything including the HDMI cable. Thank you.

Product arrived in terrific condition. Couldn't tell it was refurbished. No dead pixels. In general the monitor performed like new. The price was great

My only complaint is that shipping time could have been shorter.

I bought this for a friend who lives in Brazil. He had once saw a Apple Display and really liked it but I convinced him that the Dell Ultra-Sharp was the best display on the market. So I found a good deal on eBay and sent him one and he now agrees with me it is the best monitor he ever saw and with all the different connections he said he was set for as long as the monitor last. This was from a Seller that proved to me that there are great Sellers out there and it was shipped immediately and I received it in 3 days. I then sent it to Brazil to my friend.

This is not your run-of-the-mill 24" widescreen...more of your RGB color gamut for photo editing rocks! The USB and Card Reader ports on the side are a nice convenience too. Haven't used it for HD TV yet, but it can do that as well.

This monitor worked for less than six hours and burned out.
It may just be the power switch, but how can i help that.

Probably one of the best 24 inch monitor can be found under $800 budget. 3yr warranty is great, monitor itself is presenting high performances. No Colour losses upto 178 angle, Fine Temp for S-PVA panel. perhaps IPS panel monitors can give great 5ms response, but you gotta be lucky to not get top part greenish and down part Redish colour. this monitor includes external card reader and USB too.
Works great with Windows 7.

outstanding monitor, I'm not a gamer, so can't address that, but for my use in daytrading, it's text and charts, etc, are super clear.

I had a 20" normal samsung lcd and a 22" widescreen lcd.
I was replacing the 20" normal with this Dell 24" Widescreen.
It was a perfect choice. I am considering replacing my other 22" very soon. I almost ordered a new one the day I got the current dell. I love it. I play a lot of games, FPS, RTS, RPG, everything. They all look SO awesome. I also do a lot of CGI work using programs such as maya, photoshop, etc...

I have had no issues with monitor and its worked flawlessly
I got the newest version, I forget which one but no screen tearing, no ghosting that I have noticed. I havent conducted any official studies or tests but Nothing has bothered me and I am pretty picky about my monitor and the way things are displayed

If you are on the edge like I was for a while, you will NOT regret buying this monitor. Do it!!

Numerous positive reviews prompted me to purchase this monitor. I could not be more pleased. I am a photographer and primarily was interested in using this monitor for photo editing. However, I find it has transformed my entire computing experience. I cannot imagine using the computer without it. Highly recommended.

Let me preface this review by saying that I am a painter. I have extensive experience in digital graphics and in traditional media as well so colors on my screen mean a great deal. I've been currently struggling with my monitor -- a Dell 248wfp (from work). The brightness, contrast, and gamma were just so off that what I was seeing was not just right. The TN panel also had poor viewing angles where the top half of the screen looked different than the bottom half on this 24" monitor. To say that I was less than pleased is an understatement. I had been lusting after the 2408WFP for a while, but the $800 price tag was too high for me. I happened on a great deal on eBay for less than $350 new (and not refurbished). I have to say that this monitor is bar-none the best LCD screen I've seen in terms of the gamut and viewing angles. The lighting is clean and even throughout the whole screen, with a complete set of controls to calibrate your monitor accordingly. My eyes are less strained and I am no longer guessing on the true-ness of my photos of my paintings. The built in card reader and USB hub is an added bonus, with the most number of connections I've seen (including Displayport). Kudos to Dell for producing a top-notch monitor!

The only caveat that I have is that this is not a gamer's monitor. The refresh rate is not the fastest and you will notice a very slight delay. To me this is not important but it may be for a hardcore gamer. Regardless I cannot give this monitor anything less than five stars for its quality.
