Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP (Black) LCD Monitor

If you are looking for the best 24" LCD monitor you can buy, the Dell 2407 is your choice. I've had this monitor since it first became available and couldn't be happier. Often available for just over $700 this monitor has nearly every feature you could ask for and easily beats the Apple 23" Cinema Display (which has the same LCD panel)when you consider that the Apple costs $999.

The stylish LCD display and stand are 24" widescreen with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. The display height can be adjusted and even rotated into portrait mode (something the Apple display can't do). While you will definitely be impressed with the large, bright display - it is the many smaller features that really set this monitor apart from it's competition. One of the big reasons I waited for this monitor was that the 2407 has HDCP (which the 2405 it replaces did not). HDCP allows the monitor to be used with High Definition (HDTV) devices such as setop boxes or DVD players that use HDCP copy protection. If your monitor doesn't have it, some devices won't be able to send a signal to it.

Pros: Excellent brightness, intuituve controls, every input you could want (VGA, DVI, composite & component), plus built-in media card reader. Standard 3 year warranty from Dell is a nice bonus.

Editing hi-res photos on a low-res monitor is so unsatisfactory. This big monitor is the best thing I've invested in for my digital photography.

The native 1920x1600 looks fantastic. The monitor is thin and lightweight and the flash cardreader and extra USB ports are an added bonus. If you have the need you can flip the monitor to a portrait position, which is good if you do a lot of Photoshop work with portraits, but I rarely use this feature.

The cables can be easily managed with a hole in the stand to guide them through. The picture quality is wonderful and the main reason I purchased this monitor. Color and black are very well represented and I haven't noticed any problems with the image reproduction.

There are only two negatives I have about this monitor and they're minor.

1st: The stand is a little too small. If my desk is bumped even a little bit, the monitor wobbles back and forth.

2nd: Every time the monitor changes resolution, comes back from sleeping, etc. it will display its current input method in the upper-left hand corner of the screen for a few seconds. There may be some way of disabling this, but I haven't found it. It's just a little bit annoying to see "DVI" with a little picture of a DVI connection every time the monitor adjusts itself.

Otherwise, an excellent monitor and worth every penny!

I love these monitors. Their great. Bought them for the HC and HD capability. Gameing is incredible and insane. Running dual mons, with 8800 GTX OC 768MB.

The monitor I recieved has one of the clearest pictures of any monitor I have ever used. If anyone ever tells you that it's blurry/distorted, they most likely aren't using a high quality video cable. The monitor does heat up quite a bit in the back tho, so make sure that you don't have it covered by a shelf or something of that nature. The Side mounted USB/Card reader is a really nice feature to have as well. This also acts as a very nice HDTV is you use your computer or a Hi-def set top box from a cable provider. Also make sure you download the correct drivers for the monitor, there are three different versions, the 2407WFP, 2407FWP and the 2407WFP-HC, so make sure you know which model you're getting.

I have been a system builder for seven years and have purchased and reviewed many different lcd monitors. There aren't many that impress me, but the Dell 2407WFP that I purchased recently blows everything I have seen to date,out of the water. The colors are stunning. The black print is crisp and sharp. The screen is so bright I had to reduce the brightness level to 30%. Gaming is quick and there isn't any ghosting on the six games I played.
I would suggest that you buy a great monitor and enjoy your computer.

I initially got this display because I was envious of a friend of mine for whom I had just bought this exact display. It worked great with my supplementary 20.1" Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW, but soon I realized how valuable that virtual real estate was when it came to working on really complex graphic design projects when I'm using several products from the Adobe suite all at the same time. So, I got a second one and my opinion has only grown warmer to this model of display.

This display is fully featured, reproduces a great range of the colour spectrum detectable to most humans, and ultimately big. It's just above the sweet spot in displays right now (~early 2008) but the premium for all the inputs (DVI, VGA, S-Video, Component, Composite) and the gymnastics (rotate, pivot, pan) this monitor can do are worth paying for.

If I had the money and could justify having three very wide displays on my desk, I'd get a third. Think I'll just save my money for a new camera.

I used to own the 2407WFP .. non-HC .. WOW the HC is SOO much better, especially when it comes to HD or BluRay ..

Love it! Worth the extra money for the additional inputs for PIP / PBP use if you want to watch TV on the same monitor.

Great for gaming with the larger screen, perfect clarity and fast response time.

I am very pleased with the purchase, it makes my previous CRT look ancient. At first I felt it was TOO BIG and now it seems just right.

Excellent image quality; full array of video ports; picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture options; USB hub; HDCP. Slightly wobbly base; onscreen menu is tricky to navigate. Dell's 24-inch wide-screen LCD delivers excellent image quality and a ton of connectivity options, including video inputs and picture-in-picture settings. Add in a great price, and the Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP is the best value in its class. As I mentioned, it has it's own USB ports around the edge of the screen which allow you to plug in your USB mouse and keyboard. This keeps more wires off the edge of your desk down to your PC keeping things a little more tidy. Convenient for plugging iPod and flash memory in.

I haven't found anything at all to dislike about this monitor except for a lack of HDMI ports. Other that that this is one of the best monitors I've ever seen!

This is hands down the best monitor I have ever used. It's crystal sharp and has huge screen real estate. I use it for Photoshop and Final Cut Pro, and it gives you dozens of possibilities for arranging your windows and timelines. It also has USB ports and a card reader built in to the monitor. Plus you can hook up video inputs to run picture in picture. The only downside is you'll get so hooked on your office one that you'll wind up buying another one for home...which is what I did.

Once you use a 24" monitor, everything else will be too small. I have a 27" at work, but that might be a little too big, since things are just as clear on the 24 and you can't actually fit more stuff on the 27. Dell makes very good looking monitors.

After long time of tech review's and comparing the specifications of the same size LCD monitor's I decided to buy this Dell because of all the top results of test's I read,(the list of monitor contains: NEC Apple cinema, ViewSonic, Sony, Dell, Acer, Samsung, & other..)
And all deffrint input's that can used, and the perfect bright (more bright can damage your eyes) and the fast responding (6ms).
I can say after I use it:
IF YOU PLANING TO BUY A 24" MONITOR, THIS IS THE BEST 24" MONITOR YOU CAN BUY THIS TIME.
