With two different versions of this LCD floating around on the market, purchasing a 1905FP can be quite an endeavour. Regarding the Samsung 20 ms model, these LCDs are created for an office environment, where you spend hour upon hour staring at a screen. High brightness and contrast ratios, low failure rates and the option for either DVI (Digital Visual Interface aka. the White Plug) or VGA (Video Graphics Array aka. the Blue Plug) are exceptional features to these LCDs. Colors on these Ultrasharps are vivid and realistic. Regarding the AUO 8 ms model, these are decent all-around models for both gaming and office applications. The AUO models are simply not as good as the Samsung on the color range. With a lower contrast ratio and brightness, you just don't get to appreciate the AUO as much. For gaming, however, this model is pretty good. In comparison to other equally priced 19" LCDs (i.e. Rosewill, AOC, AOpen, Low-end BenQs and ViewSonics), this has to come out on the top of the heap. After selling over 200 of these units on eBay, we've had a return ratio in the <1% range. It's obvious that people who have received these units are quite happy with the performance, the satisfaction ratio is high. With prices on both these models on eBay floating at around $240, this is a great deal versus the 1907FP, which is a mediocre step back from Dell in order to save money and increase the profit margin, as you see the 1905FPs coming back from lease providers. We have had about 20 of these monitors at work for over two years, and we have never had any trouble with them. The picture is excellent, especially when connected to a DVI (digital) signal. We have not had any dead pixels in any of the monitors, which is more than you can say for some brands. Brightness is never a problem, and the included USB port is especially useful. I highly recommend the 1905FP as a general-purpose home or office monitor. In my opinion the size is just right -- I wouldn't want to use anything bigger on a daily basis. I do recommend installing the Windows XP Powertoy called "cleartype, which makes it easier to read text at the high resolution supported by this monitor. Also, right click on your desktop, select the tab called "appearance," and at the bottom in "font size" select large or extra large fonts. This takes care of most of reading problems caused by small fonts at high resolutions. I know Dell doesn't actually manufacture the LCD panels, but it has established quite a reputation for high quality and excellent value in LCD monitors. The added USB ports really help decongest the cable clutter behind my PC. I have 2 of these in a dual display setup which is great for running multiple programs and graphic applications. The only draw back is the resolution limitation of 1280 x 1024 per screen but that is fine for most people. I've also noticed a slight variance in brightness and contrast between the two identical monitors using the same settings. The option of DVI or VGA connections is a nice feature as well. I recommend buying one of these if you are on a budget or in the event that I decide to get rid of mine. Review ID: 10000000001143495 Was this review helpful? The reason I like it the most is that it takes up so little desk space as compared to the conventional monitor it replaced. Its price made it an excellent bargain for the money. I highly recommend it. On a side note it matches my Dell Dimension color wise. Review ID: 10000000001170567 Was this review helpful? It has two (2) hook-ups on the leftside to plug my camera into or read my disk. There is nothing I dislike about my new monitor. The reason I purchased this monitor was because it matched what I already had. the pride was right and I wanted something that didn't take up alot of space. And I swear by Dell Products. It is a pleasure to come into my computer room and sign in. The screen is big; but not cumbersome. It was easy to put together and it is so very easy on the eyes. No more headaches! My only question about this monitor is why Dell discontinued it. For text or graphic based usage you couldn't ask for better performance. The height adjustable arm is sturdy and the with the right graphic card being able to pivot the monitor offers an excellent option for word processing. The 800:1 to contrast ratio becomes your eyes best friend. Review ID: 10000000002514763 Was this review helpful? Report this review 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 8-13 people (depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link (just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you'll get your referrals before the auction even ends.) I was able to buy multiple LCD's at a fraction of the price they cost at the store. This monitor looks great, has amazing picture quality and you can't beat the value! I am taking a course in AutoCAD and I needed a home work station for practice and homework. This panel is slow so it is not good for gaming, movies or video editing but it has great color so it is well suited for CAD and photo/pictorial graphics. I use it with an older Dell Precision 360 with 3G RAM that I retrofitted with an nVidia FX3000 video card. Most fast panels are 6 bit with 16.2 million color resolution. The lesser amount of colors allow faster response time between refresh cycles. LG uses a 6 bit panel with their f-engine chip to simulate the color response of an 8 bit panel while retaining speed. I have one of these LGs and it works well but the color is still not as true as the older, slower Dell 8 bit panel. I have done side by side comparisons. So it is a trade off at least in the $200 price range. Color or speed. Sure there are faster high resolution professional graphics panels available now but at a substantially greater cost. This does the job that I bought it for and the price was right. Review ID: 10000000006264945 Was this review helpful? Report this review Page 1 of 1 Ready to share your opinion with others?
