If the majority of your time spent on the computer is text (documents and e-mail) and surfing the internet, and your old monitor is a CRT, this is a good first step into the world of LCDs.
Its widescreen proportions (1680 x 1050) allow you to view two Word documents side by side. Pictures, downloaded videos and websites in general look fine. All of the text is crisp and clear.
The adjustable stand makes it easy to optimize the viewing angle for your height and there is no problem viewing it in bright ambient light.
The on-screen menu to adjust its settings is not the most easy to navigate but it is pretty simple to figure out.
If you can get this monitor as a Dell refurb, that's the best way to get a great price and the assurance that it performs up to spec.
This is DELL's consumer oriented bread and butter. It's cheap, it's large, it's pretty darn nice for its price. BUT, it loses tons of quality due to it being so cheap. Dell is using a 6bit display on these models, less colors, banding issues and more.
just got this monitor was a good deal for the money. I did note that others have indicated that it had problems. but I havent had any yet. other than the sellar falsely advertised a 3year warrenty when dell said 1year. It is plenty large enough . I would say it will work with any system. would be eager to get a review from anyone who has owned this model for a year or more.
Had a snag with UPS they lost the the order or something like that. The seller handled it promply and made sure it was taken of. He stayed in contact with me until it finally arrived. I would definatly buy again from this seller. Product came in just as it was decribled in great condition.
I did not get to buy this though I won the bid. But the seller was so kind and accepted my sincere explanation and released me from my obligation. He is a true professional in his conduct. I am very impressed and I will not hesitate to recommend him to my colleagues.
I received the monitor in 5 days in perfectly new condition and works Beautifully and easily well. Well worth what I paid for it,Highly Recommended !!!!!!!!!! JUST LOVE IT !!
Clear picture & very space saving vs. old monitors. Leaves much more work area on smaller computer stations. Does take some getting used to the rectangular shape tho, and some web sites can't fill the screen. Don't think I'd want to go much bigger for home use either. Still, all in all, glad I upgraded when replacing my computer.
For a total cost of $200.00 it looked like a good value. One, it had a good selection of supported resolutions, two, good contrast, three, a good refresh rate, and four, a name brand. It actually looked brighter than what I expected. It can be easily be viewed it in a sun filled room. If it lasts as long as my last CRT monitor it will definitely be a bargain. When my Uncle visited he liked it so much, he bought one too.
The monitor was exactly what the seller stated. It was a gift and well received. However, when I questioned seller about shipping cost he got somewhat indignant about it. He explained that it was 16.4 pounds with a shipping cost of $30.00 for UPS ground. I told him that I owned a trucking comapnmy and ship ALOT via UPS. His reply was that it cost $24.00 and he would refund the $6.00 if it was so important to me.
When the product arrived it was weighed at UPS on THEIR scale and weighed out at 10 pounds...By UPS standards a ground package with 10 pounds weight and insured for $100.00 is $14.08...NOT $30.00
I have no complaints about the whole unit ,it has very clear resolution .Built very heavy, not cheap feeling..easy to setup ,recommend using a good brand VGA pci-16 card with dvi output for best resolution..
It's a really good monitor. Images are clear and the view angle is really wide. I decided to buy this model because is the one I used for a long time at work and I never had a problem.
not as good as i expected. i could have got a better monitor at the same price!!!and now i have a little problem with it.maybe i am not lucky enough to get a good one..
This thing makes watching movies or playing video games on your pc huge! I have it set up so I can pop a movie in or download television episodes I missed...kick back and watch from my sofa! Took a few days for my eyes to adjust to the size while writing but it's worth it.
I have a desktop from dell with this monitor and wanted to add it to my laptop docking station. I love the stand and swivel base it also can have a speaker attached across the bottom. Excellent picture quality and speed. I don't really dislike anything about it. I suppose I only wish it was bigger sometimes, but still a lot better to look at than the laptop display. I use dual desktop display and with the Vista premium OS the portability and ease of moving from our server based office to our wireless home is so tranparent I don't even have to log off. The display makes it easier to use as a desktop workstation at work. We use a full dell keyboard and mouse with the docking stations as well as tying in printers, scanners and other devices with the docking station and using a Cat-5 network cable connection vs wireless.
The monitors were excellent packaging, with all their hadbooks, cd's and cables, just one monitor has a few dark spots but i think i can clean it later and they will be gone soon. I really liked this monitors.
I love my new larger monitor. My family watches alot of movies, but no TV. I like to download movies and children's shows to the computer and the 20" monitor is the perfect size for my son. I wanted one that was larger, but affordable, and that's exactly what I got. I wish there had been some kind of comparison graphic for smaller monitors. I didn't realize that the 20" was pretty much just wider than my old monitor, but not taller. It took a few days to adjust the the "streched" look, but over all I am extremely happy, especially with movie viewing (wide-screen!)
I was amazed by how vivid the colors were when I turned on the monitor after I hooked it up. I adjusted the resolution an got it just the way I wanted it. There is not fuss in setting it up. I like the wide screen aspect that gives me a better view of web pages with out using the sliding bar on the bottom of my screen.
Size and plug and play with my graphics card was nice.
The plastic screen is not the clearest. It almost has a dusty monitor look, but it seems that most of the Dell monitors do. This dustiness is most noticeable close up in a poorly lit room.
I wasn't expecting a $1,000 picture when I decided to buy it, so overall I'm happy with this monitor. It was a great price for the screen size.
