Dell E172FP 17 inch LCD Monitor

My E172FP went black 1 day after the 3-year warranty expired. Apparently the backlight inverter went out and it costs about $75.00 to replace the part. I expected a superior quality monitor from Dell to last a lot longer than 3 years. I don't even use my computer everyday. On the days I do, I'm on it for about 4 hrs max. I've read other reviews about the monitor going black and 1 lasted 18 months, while another went out after only 1 year.

THE SHIPPMENT TOOK WAY TO LONG TO RECEIVE AND WAS DAMAGED AFTER I GOT IT,BUT I HAVE NOTHING BUT PRASE FOR THE SENDER,I GIVE HIM 110% THE PROBLEM WAS UPS!!!

I purchased two Dell 17” computer monitors from this seller, and in two separate auctions. I am very unhappy with the transactions. The two computer monitors were shipped in one box and were very poorly packed, even though I paid for separate shipping. Both monitors arrived with the cases cracked and the shipping speed was very slow. The fact that they were poorly packed was obviously the cause of them being cracked. I asked the seller to be credited back some money for shipping since they were shipped together, but I was charged separate shipping charges. I asked the seller to please let me know what they intend to do about the monitors being cracked, and the shipping issue, but never received any communication after multiple messages being sent. No communication or response whatsoever. I am VERY disappointed, which is why I had not choice but to leave negative feedback.

I bought the item because I wanted to switch over to a flat screen. The item is in excellent condition. The transaction went very smooth.

this is an excellent lcd, it matched my tower, and i like the fact the vga cable is not part of the lcd display and is a separate cable on its own, and I also like the fact the power cord is a standard cord.

I do not normally suggest anyone buy from Dell. I bought this monitor to see if my thoughts have changed. They have not. I still see a lack of good workmanship in this product as I have seen with their laptops. I have not heard any major complaints about their desk tops however.

Workmanship aside, the monitor has good color, sharp contrast and clear images. That is what you want in a display. I bought this one because the seller had a 100% rating, the price was good and because I needed a test monitor for my laptop shop.

Would I recommend this monitor to a friend? No. Not unless cost was the most important thing.

I like this monitor quite a bit compared to my old CRT. The size is fine for me, and the resolution is good, not stellar, but it's not a high-dollar LCD. It's good and reliable though, and definitely not so much like a radiator heater like CRTs. Plenty of brightness, didn't require any special drivers to work correctly. Just pop it out of the box, plug it in, and turn it on. Just don't poke the screen; I got this one used, and it has one spot where someone poked the screen and there's a sort of darker spot there, mostly noticeable on white backgrounds. Overall, I would definitely recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a reliable LCD that doesn't need super high resolution.

It is the first item I have had problems with after been an ebay buyer. I usually don't take in a lot of consideration the fact when a seller doesn't have a lot of starts, and give them a chance to gain more.
This item after I won, I paid within 24 hrs, then I never received not even an email from the seller. Never got anything. Two month later I am still waiting on Paypal's answer since I opened a dispute that esscalated to a claim, let's see what happens...

I like the design and look of this little monitor, crisp and clean. Although the monitor did have a problem when purchased, it was very easy to fix ($10). Even though this monitor does not have a digital input, it is still a nice little monitor for the money.

I was looking for a dell lcd that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I looked on e-bay and found one for an affordable price because my first one broke off its back stand (thinking it didn't work but found out it still did lol) but nonetheless I love it. Now, my boyfriend and I have in already hooked up and ready to go with mine too. Thanks again!?!

Monitor does not power on. I did not see that in the description the first time I read it. After bidding I went backand read it again, found that in the description after the part that said it looked good or something of that nature. Emailed seller immediately to see if I could withdrqw my bid. never heard from him until after the bidding closed. Then he said it was too late. Well yeah it was too late them but I had attempted way before closing. Anyway, I have a useless piece of equipment. Didn't mind paying the price I had bid on it but DID mind paying the shipping cost.

it was not in working conditon, i was very disappointed in the item.
because i wanted to up grade my computer monitor to flat screen.

Seller was very rude, and would not reason with me. He refused to help me in any way. Very bad experience.

I would like to have more control over the functions for graduate the image but the monitor is beautiful , the image is clear I recommend it.

I got this one because it was listed had bruses on the lcd screen come to find out it also had 15-25 dead pickels on it so i emailed him and told him when he powered it up he should have seen the dead pickels on the bruses,i have had many come not as listed and or shipping problems witch i tryed to resolve with the seller and they tell me i did it,then when i ask for your help it looks to me if i am not a big seller you don't help so i am pretty much done buying unless i know the person.

it was good, but the color was abit brain eating to manage. The delievery was easy and safe, the small scratch mentioned was jus a sticker mark which easily washed away...

The discription matched the item, great buy at a great price, shipped as stated. I will do buisness with again.
