Dell AS501 SoundBar 2 Speakers

This is a device that attaches to most recent model Dell monitors, and gives them the ability to play sounds. What can I say? It performs its function.

The speaker definitely matches the look of my 2408WFP. It is smaller than it looks (maybe 14 inches across and a little more than an inch tall). It locks into latches on the bottom of your monitor, so if your monitor has height adjustment, it may no longer be possible to make the monitor go quite so low, although this wasn't a problem for me.

The speaker has a 4 or 5 foot cord ending in a headphone jack. It has 2 headphone ports on the speaker so that you and a friend can listen to your computer in private. There is also a volume/power knob. One of the cool things about this speaker is that it turns itself on and off with your monitor. I find this nice, but if you listen to music while your monitor is off, you may not like it at all.

Since it is only a 2W (1W x 2 for stereo) speaker set, it does not get very loud at all. Even at max volume, you will probably struggle to hear it over background conversation. In a quieter room, it will be plenty loud enough. The sound quality is better than laptop speakers, but worse than a real speaker system. There doesn't seem to be any distortion even at full volume (which is not that loud).

I just wanted to have a clean addition for my replacement monitor so when I saw these speakers mentioned with the paperwork I thought "WHY NOT?!" so on the ebay hunt I went. I wasn't expecting any great sound or booming bass just prime real estate desk space and they delivered the space and quite honestly they deliver decent sound. I still have to clean the wire arrangement a little but that is the installer not the product and I like not having to use another outlet to power these up. If you buys these you won't regret it

This sound bar waorks wonderfully. It's small, attaches to the monitor, does not take up desk space. THe sound is OK, do not expect big sound from this item, but it does work powered from the monitor and is very easy to install.

sound is good and saves a lot of desk space which I need at this time. power for speakers can come thru monitor(must be on) or optional power supply

I work for a Fortune 500 company, and Dell 19 monitor are everyplace. Since I loved them, I picked up 2 on Ebay (cheap!) and needed the sound bar to go with them. I got 2 from this seller, they were also cheap, and the shipping was fast. What I love about them is their simplicity. No more speakers and wires all over the place, and both my desktops now have their own audio. Plus each have 2 headphone jacks!

This speakers are great for those who doesn't have too much desk or doesn't want to sacrifise some space for speakers. And I have to tell you, they are not too bad for their size. But be carefull, make sure you're getting right ones there are (I believe) two different types, one is usb and the other ones take power from monitor through the port on the moniter. So make sure that spekaers are compatible with the monitor. List of monitors they usualy work with should be provided by seller or otherwise do your research....

The speakers themselves are average quality, not very loud but that's expected because of its small size. works great for listening to average quality mp3s and watching streaming clips from youtube. Bass is too low for me and it should have more sound controls like bass and treble tuning or at least provide software for that purpose. Instalation was easy and simple, it only took me 2 minutes to connect it to my dell monitor and computer. If you like to save some space and have a neat looking monitor like mine, you should buy it.

Fits nicely and installs easily on a Dell FP (flat panel) monitor. Amplifies the sound with plenty of volume for my needs. Audiophiles may want something fancier, but does a good job with music and DVD's. Has a handy volume knob on the side. Much nicer than having separate speakers on the desk. Pleased.

The best option for Dell lcd built in speaker, I will try it to see how works.
Maybe I do not need buy stereo speakers system if this is enought.

this set of speakers work great weather ur playing music or some online games. a sleek must have for any Dell flat panel users.

I have now had the AS501 Soundbar at work for over two years, being extremely satisfied with its performance in an office environment. It is able to produce good quality sound with decent amplification capability - bearing in mind that it is, after all, an under-monitor stereo speaker system intended for computer-related multimedia.
In case I don't wish to disturb my co-workers, there are two handy headphone connectors. The power switch/volume knob is conveniently located and easy to operate.

So, after I have finally replaced my trusty old CRT monitor at home with a spiffing new 24" height-adjustable pivoting Dell LCD, there was no better companion for it then the Soundbar which fits ever so snugly under the monitor, giving it a sleek no-nonsense look. Oh yes, and my old weathered cheap-sounding multimedia speakers looked obsolete next to it, so I threw them out too.

For the money, it works fine. A few very minor blemishes, but that was disclosed. If you need one, order one!

I bought this item because the seller's rating 100% feedback! Well after I received this item it was DOA! And the seller has a 14 day return policy but refused to take it back! They told me it was working before they ship it out to me...And It was not in the MFG orginal box but package in a Priority Mailing box that was not large enought to fit the item!!!
So use CAUTION when buying from sellers who offer you refunds exchanges etc to get you to buy from them.
I made the MISTAKE and left them Postive Feedback before I found out it was DOA!Will file clame with Ebay and Pay-Pal. Sellers ID afxxtreme out of Thailand

Great small cheap speakers. moderately high volume and low volume capable. sound quality is excellent for its class of speakers. I like very much the lack of power cable if connected to the correct Dell monitor. I use the bar on non dell monitors with the power cable attachment and sticky velcro to the underside of the LCD. Perfect sound system for office and casual use for which it was designed.

The LED blue light can be too bright for some people. Make sure that your purchase comes with the power adapter if you need it (for non dell monitors -make sure if you are using a dell monitor that the power adapter port on the underside of the monitor is there otherwise use the power adapter) again, sticky velcro works for all lcd's that are non dell.

This item was a very good deal. It ship faster than I thought it would. My wife love's not having all the clutter of my old kenwood speaker laying all over the place, Thank You.

I bought this item to because of the price and I wanted to have original accessories to my Dell system. I also like the fact that the speakers are a space saver, which do not require them to be on the sides taking up space, instead they attach to monitor. Excellent design plends well with monitor. Cons it requires power cord. I give this item a 4 Star!!!

I already had one of these speakers for my computer in my home/office and purchased a second one for my wife's computer. It works really well and cuts out all of the cords, speakers, and clutter which takes up room. I have been very pleased with this purchase.

i had to replace, old ones quit working. new one replaced easily and worked great. time from ordering and recieveing was in a timely manner

A great option to replace regular desktop speakers. They save lots of space and in a business environment(no loud music) they work very well. Be sure your monitor is compatible!

The speaker bar attached to my 2001fp monitor quite easily and the power hookup is a snap. I bought it primarily for the space savings but am impressed by the sound quality from such a compact unit. Not the loudest speakers though they do the job well for me - I have 2 monitors and just bought another speaker bar for the other one - great for video and general system use.

You can't beat the price these are going for.

The only thing I didn't like is the silver grill - I painted mine flat black to match the monitors.

This is the way to go if extreme high quality sound is not required. Speaker is out out of way freeing up a lot of desk space. For my tin ear this is perfect speaker.

Attaches easily and helps with space constraints. Good for basic usage for the internet. Convenient on/off knob along the right side. Might want something different if looking for a high quality sound for videos and music. I'm happy with it.
